Re: Latest Wedding Shopping in Lahore
Hello Lovely Guppans,
Now you all have helped me brainstorm a lil about my wedding so it's time to thank you girls and help pay back. I'm from NJ and had gone to Pakistan for my wedding shopping (Lahore mainly). I decided to post a list of places you girls living abroad can go which I found pretty reasonable and prices.
First off-- A lot of designers out there are snobbish and are charging you gazillions for ugly cheap work that you can give to your local karigar and save a lot.
My wedding Lengha I did not want to compromise and as I didn't have much time, I had to get designer. I got my lengha from Libas-E-Khaas. They are superrr expensive..but I gave them a month for my lengha and got it within a month so kudos to them. LOVEEEEEEE IT! It's like a blood red with grey and turqouish kaam with antique work and stones all over :) They had quoted 3.5 lacs and we brought it down to 2.5...still expensive but it's what I wanted so hey why not!
In terms of jewelery..my wedding set is from Hanif Jewelers..go to the Auriga branch not the Liberty one. The guys there are soooooooo nice..they even gave me a ring as a gift! My set mA is gorgeous and antique..they are costly but work with your budget..you tell them how much you can pay and they will show you accordingly...
Also got some stuff from Waseem Jewellers..they have gotten a bit snobbish since last time I went..just got some bangles but they are pretty..but they charge WAY more for "making"
In terms of Jeheez shopping and regular clothes...DUPATTA GALI IT IS GIRLS!
There are soooooooo many karigars and you can go to any..they make beautiful clothes for less.
I just printed lots of images out and took them with me. I loved this Nomi Ansari outfit..but I hate that designer's guts so I went to a karigar and got the outfit made EXACTLY THE SAME WAY...now I know some of you may say thats like wearing a fake bag...but seriously why give business to such...u know whats lol
Some shops I made my clothes at:
Palki boutique..the guy there is super flirty but you have to put him in his place and be demanding. Got my mom's and some of mine. He has nice work for formal and semi-formal. Reasonably priced too..my outifts ranged from 10,000-25,000
Bano Bazaar in Anarkali...there's this guy Bilal there..hes a sweetheart..the other uncles are sorta mean but you show them anything you like and they make it. Their fitting is amazing and they have a really good tailor!
Kiran in Anarkali- got some semiformals and formals from them. They are reasonably priced. Got one outfit for 8,000 and three for around 14,000
Ali Bridal in Anarkali- the main guy there is Nadeem...he made emergency outfits for me and they came out nice ...prices are around 25,000 for a heavy outfit.
Auriga- numerous Pathan shops with beautiful kariye work outfits...they range from 3,000-10,000. Depends on the work you want to get done. I got lots of simple kariye outfits to just wear in the house or to house functions etc.
Cynosure- in Liberty they are pretty cheap but the staff there is a bit rude and is so anal with you trying on outfits..it's always busy there too but nice outfits for casual wear
Cotton Giny- also in Liberty right by Palki...nice casual outfits..they have the latest designs
Humayun's- loved their casuals! Got loads and loads of them! A bit more expensive but really nice quality.
Hijaab- City Tower...THE WOMAN IS NASTY! She is soo rude I went in and was looking at stuff and she goes "do you have an appointment with me to look through my stuff?" Blahh nice outfits though but once again expensive as hell.
Generation-- They are nice...reasonably priced too latest designs
Threads and Motifs- expensive but awesome at MM Alam Road...go there for some really classy stuff!
Hina B at MM Alam- I got some of her casuals for around 8,000-13,000. Her other stuff is ehhhk but I liked these casuals with black work on them and some kariye.
Lets see...as for shopping for Mehndi stuff etc. go to Ichra bazaar...its super packed but a good deal...also Anarkali has stuff
For shoes..I'd suggest buying them here but I did buy some from Stylo and Metro.
That's all I have for you girls..but it was one hectic trip and I am glad its over!!! Can't wait to wear my outfits!!
