Re: Languages
Any links as to how a layman could learn stuff like this?
Re: Languages
True. But after sometime syntax won’t be an issue. Like we all can write and speak English, but very few of us can write a good book, or poetry .
Re: Languages
^ Well put :k:
Re: Languages
Wow! that’s impressive.
Here are some that I know: C, C++, Assembly, Python.
Got to learn most of them in university coding classes. I also tried learning HTML and I can tell it from others lol.
Trying to understand a large amount of source code in C++ these days. Oh yes, has anyone here used Doxygen visual graphs to understand someone else’s source code?

Does this mean I can ask for help with my homework too? :halo:
Re: Languages
I just came across this and thought you guys would appreciate it… ![]()
It was titled “I helped a co-workers kids with learning some basic web-design for an art class - A nice reminder that not all clients are terrible :)”
Restored attachments:
Re: Languages
^ only that title should go in head and it’s missing a closing HTML tag :smack:
Re: Languages
Sure. But first you have to show that you did something… ![]()
Re: Languages
Started with C/C++ then x86 Assembly then C#, SQL and Java. Had the opportunity to learn some old languages like COBOL and ADA at uni, and used Symbian C++ for a Symbian App i made at uni. Programming was a passion for me but never become a programmer (found another passion, IT Security). Self thought JSP, Python, Ruby, CSS, HTML & XML (Cant call that last two a strict programming language, close enough). These days its mostly looking at code written by others, still love to improve them.
Re: Languages
^ :k: That’s awesome!
There is SUUUUUCH a high demand for COBOL here because no one teaches it anymore… And the people that know it aren’t in the job market anymore..
Lol of course! :joel:
Re: Languages
Started with Pascal, C\C++, SQL in 1995 at school. Later on (late 90’s) taught myself HTML and then PHP (since 2004).
Then 3 years later in Uni (1998), we were supposed to choose IT Management, Programming, Networking, or Database’s as core subject. So I took the ‘right’ turn (at the time) towards Management for next 3 years.
Eventually I got back to, taking a U-turn :halo: and am back to Programming (PHP mainly) again, full-time since year 2009 or so ![]()
I learnt the basics in School, but after that I am self-taught (HTML, PHP, CSS)
