I think Urdu sounds are better written in Devanagari script than in Arabic/Persian.
But I am not advocating any change because Urdu will loose tremendous amount of meanings and its history if it ever switches to any script other than Arabic/Persian.
I was reading and then talked to my friend in Bihar, he says some urdu language newspapers, publish urdu news in devanagari script, not nastaliq, because most of the youth there know only how to read hindi, not urdu haha. They simply added a few dots to existing characters in devangari to represent urdu sounds.
I PERSONALLY find it easier to read Devanagari as all the vowels are always represented when writing
