We dont want brothels... I dont see any brothels in Islambad.. If the Lal Masjid see's them, then protest peacefuly, and if the govt doesnt listen then continue to protest.. What they are is vigalant criminals... Even by Islamic principles they are wrong, since you can accuse anyone of being a prositute without having real proof..

Let me ask you this, right now it is all innnocent, but WHERE have such movements remained innocent... They already threateend to forcefuly close down cd shops, I have no problem with cd shops, why should those people impose their beliefs on me?
Tommorow it will be women drivers, men out in public with their wives, people playing music in their cars or homes, people dancing at weddings... You might have faith in these people, but they are nothing but terrorists in my eyes.

Seriously, 99% of residents in Islamabad don't even know of any brothels in the city. Trust me, I know this, being a past resident of Isloo and still having various family and friends back there. The fact that the Lal Masjid terrorists knew about them tells you about their gutter mentality more than anything else. Maybe the prostitutes there refused to provide them service once, thus the reason why they got so pissed.

I am telling you that you have a RIGHT to call for a movement to implement whatever kind of state you want, Mulsim, Hindu, Christian, secular, Buddhist. I, and many like minded people do not care. We may not agree with you, but we recognize your right to establish the kind of laws you think will make Pakistan a better place. HOWEVER, I STRONGLY DISAPPROVE OF ANYBODY FORCING ANYTHING UPON US THROUGH VIOLENCE and ANARCHY. Threat of suicide bombing, destruction of public and private property, state within a state, threats to barbers, torching of v ideoshops etc, we will NOT tolerate this kind of terrorist activities. It is sad to see that your beloved religious parties mostly engage in this kind of behavior, but as long as they continue to do so, we'll continue to oppose you.
Drop the violent behavior, and preach to public whatever you want. I will belong to the group that preaches harmony, inter-faith tolerance and freedom, and fewer restrictions on personal freedom, and hope that the better ideas will win more hearts and mind, but I will not oppose your RIGHT to preach whatever you want. However, you cannot throw the country into anarchy through violence and intimidation.
Hope this was clear enough for you. I am not against Islam or Muslims, I am just opposed to that gun in your hand.

Brothels are not Pakistan's important problem. If the Lal Masjid students can run a cleanliness movement going around urging shopkeepers, and people on the street to not trash the public property, help cleaning the cities, and keep people from destroying people's property, they might get my sympathies and win some credibility too. But no, whoever wants to implement Islam, adops violence as the first step! There are a million other ways to make people's lives bettter..

I have been all around in Islamabad, and I NEVER SAY ANY KIND OF ACTIVITY THAT COULD BE SEEN AS IMMORAL! Islamabad people are liberal in their views, but immoral? I never say a brothel anywhere.
Thats not to say that there arent brothels or prostitutes, I have heard many-a-story about the seedy underbelly of Pakistan... But its in no way all pervasive... And I doubt any of the average residents of Islamabd could possibly know anything about this.
The Lal Mosque accuses police of not doing anything, but what is there to do when there is no problem to begin with?

And if Prostitution and brothels are as big-a-problem as these people would make them out to be, wouldnt the Islamabad residents themselves be up in arms against them?
I know that if there was a brothel in my neighborhood, I would be raher pissed of...
Yet the Madrassa wallas and their supporters think that Islamabadians are simple allowing these brothels to prosper as though they dont even care! Do they think the whole of Islamabad is so immoral to allow such thing to go on?? Arrogance of these people is utterly mind boggling!

I am as liberal as they come, but I wouldn't appreciate a brothel operating in my reidential area either. That said (and out of the way), it is clear that Pakistan in general and Islaambad in particular is not really suffering from thsi problem tot he extent that it was a crisis and people had to take law into their own hands.
Sex is something maulvis are especially fixated on. Contrary to how it should be for them, they are mostly wondering about who's having sex with whom, especially when they are not molesting madarrsah kids themselves.

Thats exactly what I believe as well. Looking at all those angry terrorists in and around lal masjid, it seems quite obvious to me that they are that way due to sexual frustration. Not that there is lack of any sexual activity inside those madrasshas (I'm sure the maulvis get a little cunnilingus every now and then, as forced as it maybe, from their little drone-ish students) but their frustration really shows in their voices and in their behavior. I mean EVERYTHING involves sex for them. "Ohhhh...close the brothels... burn the pornos...kidnap helpless Chinese girls" etc.
