Seems to be that there is something inherently aggressive about Muslims, stemming from the ideology they follow.
And what ideology is that? And in the present tussle which side is the muslim? Musharaf/Ghazi? Whether muslims are aggressive as you say or not, today it wouldn't be far to say all stpudit (sp! Intentional). You know what's sad in all this? Someone very creatively came up with the idea perhaps senior alqaeda was holed up in the mosque. Do you what the 'muslim' reaction to that right here was? APATHY. It was neither taken as a joke nor as an insightful conspiracy. Nobody just cared. Pakistanis have given up ater this. All that is left to discuss is for some to come up for air and start blaming all those not living in pakistan as "traitors" and "non-playing captains".
Re: Breaking News: Paramilitary Police clash with Lal Mosque idiots!
haroon shaheed should have taken money from ghazi and in return allowed ghazi and other jehadis to escape. thats what pakistanis deserve. i certainly would not waste my life on pakistanis.
Well said. Why did he bother with his mission at all if it was for NO REASON at all?
This is a big win for terrorists. They will be emboldened from now on ever more. They will say look how we showed the army who is boss and even killed theri SSG commander.
i am not sure whats the hurry in resolving this? let this go on longer - starve them out, use psyops. longer the stand off, weaker the position of jehadis. since this is not a hostage situation, there is no danger of jehadis killing hostages. ultimately food will run out and jehadis will have to make a move because it defeats the purpose of the drama jehadis just die of starvation.
govt has all the cards. it should not be in a rush to move. let the jehadis make the first move.
Finland Closes Embassy In Islamabad
Published 09.07.2007, 17.20 (updated 09.07.2007, 18.21)
Finland has temporarily closed its embassy in Pakistan. According to the Finnish Foreign Ministry, the embassy has been closed because of the deteriorating security situation in the Pakistani capital.
The Finnish Embassy is located in the Pakistani capital Islamabad close to the compound of the Red Mosque which is being held by Islamist militants in defiance of government orders to surrender.
According to Finland’s Ambasador, Irmeli Mustonen, there are very few Finnish nationals in Pakistan and the Embassy does not beleive that those who are there are in any danger.
Holes have been blown in outer walls of the compound housing Islamabad’s Red Mosque, where the government says 200 to 500 followers of a rebel cleric’s Taliban-style movement are resisting the military. Pakistani government and military officials say there are 50 to 60 hard-core militants, some from groups linked to al Qaeda, leading the fighting, but most of the others are women and children.
There are fears that the siege could end in a bloodbath.
If we don’t. We will continue to get bad press from around the world.
Ok, seems a deal has been made and a resolution is finally in the works…
Im all for it so long as those guilty of murder are held… I particularly want to see the person responsible for the murder of Coln Haroon be give serious punishment…
Agreement points being penned down: Durrani
ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Mohammed Ali Durrani said Tuesday that the Lal Masjid standoff would be resolved in accordance with constitution and law.
Talking to Geo News, Durrani said the points of agreement are being penned down.
The federal information minister said the government is trying to defuse Lal Masjid stalemate with the least possible loss, adding that the negotiations with Lal Masjid are underway.
‘No agreement has been reached so far; however the agreement points are being inked,’ Durrani said adding that the standoff would be resolved amicably under the directives issued by President Gen Musharraf.
Responding a query regarding released Tayyaba, the daughter of Maulana Abdul Aziz, he said it had already been clarified that Jamia Hafsa female students would be allowed to go home after necessary proceedings.
Breakthrough likely in Lal Masjid standoff
ISLAMABAD: There are reports that Lal Masjid stalemate has neared the point of its resolution in the ongoing negotiations over Lal Masjid.
It was said Maulana Abdur Rashid Ghazi would leave for his ancestral village Rajanpur area of Kachcha, where he will be put under house arrest along with his mother and the people present at Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa will be left after proper scrutiny. All the armed men will lay down their arms and Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa would be handed over to the government.
It should be noted that President Musharraf had consented for the decisive operation; however after the intervention of Ch Shujaat Hussain, this was halted.
Maulana Abdur Rashid Ghazi belongs to hardliner Baloch tribes.
There are reports that the issue of Maulana Abdul Aziz, who is on remand, would also be discussed in negotiations with Maulan Fazlur Rehman Khalil.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been included in dialogue process, as Maulana Abdur Rashid Ghazi wished so. Maulana Fazlur Rehman will go into Jamia Hafsa for holding talks.
Exactly. Pakistan is a embaressment. I am ashamed of being of Pakistani heritage after today.
And how do you think Pakistanis feel when they read your jazbaati posts.
apni so'och thandi rakho. There are hundreds of these loonies in the tribal areas who were ready to "avenge" any deaths resulting from the GOP action. You have a plan to deal with such externalities? Hain, General Patton?

Once again, this will come to bite us very soon.
Well, the people left inside the complex, they will be punished the way the deserve.. And if that means its under anti terrorism court, then you know what is store for them...
The people responsible for the death of the SSG must be hanged... Assumeing they can figure out who it was that pulled the trigger.
guys, hold your fire. deal is off. now watch "ulemas" come on tv and blame the govt. waisay pak would be a first world country if govt trotted out scientists like it brings out ulemas.
Oh dear the apologists are out in force. Shame on the two bit dictator.
Oh c'mon you should be supporting him. He hasn't sent anyone to the gallows like Zia did to Bhutto. I guess Zia is not a two bit for decisively dealing with the enemies of the state.

No one will be hanged. Govnt is getting ready to surrender to Taliban. I hope MQM stocks up with weapons to deal with the coming troubles. This is why I trust MQM more than the army and govnt.
