We figured that we could (according to our school admin) take the last 3 days of our rotation off and first 3 days off (+ weekend) = 8 days of vacation at some point during the first few months of marriage and book a trip to the Caribbean or even FL (we’ve never been) for that time.

8 days for FL or Caribbean (if visiting 1 single place) sounds like a lot to me but yes, that sounds like a plan. My husband and I took a cruise a few years ago that was 1 week…Cruise went to St. Thomas, Turks/Caicos, and Puerto Rico. If you/fiance have weekends off, and if you two can manage to take 1 week (Mon-Fri) off, that’s plenty of time for a nice/relaxing trip.

I was just curious because it seems like most people go directly to the honeymoon with like a week or two lag at the most.

But you must keep in mind that most people aren’t in a situation where BOTH people are dealing with the joys of becoming a M.D. And often when people still studying can manage lavish honeymoons right after wedding, its usually being paid for by parents. Do what works for YOU and your specific situation. As long as you two are happy and stress-free (as much as possible)…that’s what truly matters.
