You get a month off during 3rd year .. Which is the vacation month in which there is no rotation. You can easily schedule honeymoon during that time. Just make sure and you and your SO are on the same timeslot.

I actually checked with school admin about this and the way they do our scheduling is that the 3rd year “vacation” month is used to give us an extra month off for board studying/vacation. Typically this would be PERFECT since I could take my boards, have a wedding, go on a honeymoon and still have time to relax before the start of the school year BUT Ramadan is the ENTIRE “vacation” month we have. I tried to see if they’ll let us move it around but I’d be messing with our board studying at that point and that has greater repercussions for us than a delayed honeymoon so i didn’t want to do that.

Our “honeymoon” trip was a few months after the wedding. The reason be delayed it is b/c of vacation timing issues with husband’s job plus the headache of planning a trip in addition to planning the wedding.

I agree with your fiancé that it’s best to wait for a big trip until both of you are settled job wise and financially. I believe you’re in the U.S. While doing a vacation in Asia requires time (especially due to the long flight) and money…I’d say if possible, try to plan a trip within the first few months of the wedding is possible. Even if not local…see if you can plan a trip to like the Bahamas, Bermuda or somewhere that’s still nice, closer flight time…and a easy trip that you can do within 3-4 days.

Don’t get too caught up with the romantic notion of a “honeymoon”. The idea behind this trip is for the couple to be relaxed and enjoy each other’s company. Its useless to go on a “honeymoon” trip if there is stress involved due to timing or money.

Yep, US. We’ll be getting married on the west coast and moving to the east coast. We figured that we could (according to our school admin) take the last 3 days of our rotation off and first 3 days off (+ weekend) = 8 days of vacation at some point during the first few months of marriage and book a trip to the Caribbean or even FL (we’ve never been) for that time. And then do thailand/maldives as a bigger trip when we have the money and our ducks all lined up in terms of residency (iA). I was just curious because it seems like most people go directly to the honeymoon with like a week or two lag at the most.
