He said 50 years ago we would have lynched you. Do you understand how offensive it can be?

What if he had said, 60 years ago we would have gased you in Auschwitz? you would have completely understood that, yeah?

He is Jewish, so I think he realizes that someone could pass out a comment similar to the one you have stated. I think it was just a heat-of-the-moment thing. And his apology seemed fine to me.
