If you believe in evolution, then a dinosaur laid an egg, which began to look like a bird, which then laid another egg, which looked even more like a bird, and so on and so forth until a chicken was born.
So the Chicken came first because the first chicken egg had to be laid by protochicken, or the ancestor of the modern Chicken...
Its logical!
