When I was doing the rishta round, I would often get asked "Who is your favourite singer/band?" I would say Phil Collins. That would always yield a "Who????" response. I was told by my female family members to just say Dave Mathews Band or U2 instead of Phil Collins cuz no one really knows who he is.

So I guess my question would be "Do you know who Phil Collins is?"

And how can people in their 20's not know who Phil Collins is? He sang ultimate 80's classics like In the Air Tonite and sussudio!!!!!!! come on people, get with the times.

Difficult question to ask. I'm not sure, but I think I'd ask if that person likes to read and what kind of books.

Oh no! I had a friend once at school, who asked every person, male or female about their birth dates, just to see if they would "match" her!

Face reading? I sometimes do that, but it's not always a proper method to know if someones character is negative. Sometimes we interpret peoples reactions wrong. I have made that mistake a few times and other people have made that mistake with me a few times. They often say that I'm angry, while I'm not often angry, I've been sad a lot though, but not angry. Also my eyesight isn't very well, so I frown a bit to see something or someone better, and a few times people thought I was mad, but I wasn't. And once I thought someone who kept looking at me was insulted by me, sometimes my opinions insult people while I don't always intend to insult someone, so I thought, did I do or say something that might have been insulting for her? But she wasn't insulted or angry at all, she was trying to remember where she knew me from, she was a Pakistani from my childhood, we used to visit them often, but I hadn't seen her in years. Our families didn't visit each other any more. So I didn't recognise her, she was changed so much. So was I, but she had noticed something familiar about me.

I think we have to be carefull with our interpretations of other peoples expressions. We don't know what's going on in their mind.

I will ask him/her exactly the same question you have asked us and his/her answer will tell a lot about the personality :)

"If you had just one question to ask a person that you need to get to know...what would you ask?"

who are your heroes/inspiration.. i think thats the best question to know someone.

ps: what if i say i have different heroes for different purposes.. i mean for determination..i like all the athletes from swimmers to bodybuilders.. for being pious .. my greatest teacher and the beloved Prophet of Allah Muhammad PBUH.. etc.. would that be good enough?
