Oh and with kishmish we always have pine nuts, what are they called in Pakistani again?

My grandad reckons they are too expensive to bring back from Pakistan. He's trying to gyp me innit?!

Blue tooth ya Hand held

Pine nuts are expensive, relatively speaking.

and I am not making up the stuff, its real

Munaqqa and kishmish are both raisins...munaqqa is borrowed from Arabic, and kishmish from Farsi.

I've heard of amlaa...no idea what reetha is.

Jaiphal is nutmeg. Javitri is mace (the outer skin of the nutmeg fruit).

I know what murabba is...no idea what maajoon is.

ok ok dont go red! I tell a little lie. I have heard of murabba, but I thought it was made up due to way in which my mum used to use the word.

How expensive is expensive?

I am sure you are right about the origin of the words, but they are sold as tow different commodities in indo/pak stores ... kind of like Pecan and walnut

Ok, ok, dont get red! I told a little lie. I have heard of ‘murabba’ but always assumed it was a made up word due the way in which my mum used to use it. Im too much of an unpar jahil to type it out in punjabi, but it used as a taana maaring curse, a well know phrase…in my family anyway.

$15.99/lb for Pine nuts vs $1.99/lb for Peanuts on Nutsonline.com
