Queer your statement to condemn America for the wrong picture conveyed by communism is not the whole truth. Any person looking around would see that most of the communist countries have one party rule. True US has done much to discredit communism, but it is the communists themselves who have created this image for themselves.
Coming back to the topic...
Kerala has good literacy coz the importance of education was inculcated in the keralites from a long time.
I come from kerala and would like to share a saying about the wonderful place..

....... inhabited by devil's children coz communism has ruined the landscape of kerala. Every other day there is a bandh (strike) or hartal. No industry is allowed to flourish there. Hence all the educated have left kerala...
