Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
^ he's given you his answer... a white president is less protective of black people... doesn't that explain the delay?
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
It was a screw up from top to bottom - from municipal to state to federal. The color of the those responsible and those affected aren't responsible for that.
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
Sheraz, there are obviously tough questions to be answered. Here is my capsule summary.
Obviously there was enough notice. The National Guard was held away from the coast to prevent them from being casualties. Storm hit. As soon as the storm had passed, the National Guard should have surged into the city. At that point in time the Guard reports directly to the Governor. The first few groups of Guard start rescueing people. The rest should have followed on, but they did not. The idea is in these situations to have waves of people arriving. The police have primary control for the first few hours til the guard arrives. FEMA helps to coordinate, but they do not have direct authority to give orders to the guard. In theory FEMA should have set up a command post, but thier security is guranteed by the Guard, so they would normally go in at the same time. That is the model they worked with FOUR times last year in Florida and they did fine.
The big mistake people are making here is that the National Guard reports directly to the Governor, unless they are nationalized for foreign wars, then they report direcly to the Pentagon. FEMA has overall coodination control, but that line is not direct. Infact, I haven’t seen the governor of La. in the news at all, I think she is hiding…
And, for the record, I think that the death toll will be much larger than we imagine. I also think that many here still do not understand the scope of this disaster. The area with no power, no water, no communications is larger than the entire UK. The media focus on New Orleans is appropriate, but not painting a picture of the entire disaster.
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
It was nothing to do with racism, but sheer lack of planning and execution. It demonstrated how inept the authorities were, all the way up to the white house. You would never expect this to happen to America but this highlighted how vulnerable they really are, tragically the poor black communities being mother nature's guinea pigs in this demonstration. Yes, shes the racist bitch!
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
Yes nothing to do with racism and if you belive that then you must also belive WMD exist in IRaq

Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
By your logic, a WHITE official should be “MORE in touch and protective of his people.” So, where did Bush go wrong?
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
The footages of last six days of news coverage that BBC showed last night clearly tells the darkness of modern civilization and its champion. Racism?? What racism!!! A black woman with a six year old broke into a soaked convinience store looking for food called looter on nations biggest newsass while on the same network a white family breaking into a bakery called ‘hunting for food’.
:k: Long live THE CHAMPION !!!
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
blacks in america are still mostly third class citizens. While whites live in rich areas, blacks have been isolated in ghettos thanks to 400 years old White oppression.
I hope whites become a minority in america in the next 50 years, and this will solve most of the world's problems.

Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
interesting article, it seems a sure thing that healthcare will be the dominant issue in the next election and our next president will be a democrat. hopefully not Hillary
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
^ so are parts of Europe, Japan, Australia, anywhere else..what is the point PA? The difference is that in America it takes a fking category 5 hurricane to cause the death and destruciton we see. In Europe, a heatwave kills 10, 000 people. If this happened in the thirdworld, economies would have collapsed.

Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
How many people actually died in the Katrina hurricane?
Re: Katrina hurricane and racism of the US administration?
If you want to bash the US, at least get your facts right. It doesn't do much for your argument. New York and Washington are not predominately white.
Do you really think the government has a list of minority areas that tells them how fast to respond to certian areas?
And pray tell who are these "monsters and not humans"?
Interesting!!
