well no matter if mt everest is half in chain, a mountain is considered to be in the country where its "summit" is, even if some of its mass is in another country, just like K2 has some portion in china, but because "peak" is considered to be in Pakistan, hence K2 is in Pakistan, similarly, Mt Everest is in Nepal, not in china
