He doesn’t have to. His tribal ties are to the Taliban-leaning Pashtun areas. He will get protection by the Taliban there from the non-Pashtun warlords of western Afghanistan.

Russia and Iran will then step in to prop them up with arms, funding, training and air support and Afghanistan will be divided down the centre.

But that gives taliban no incentives to “keep him” considering Taliban are not hazrat umar or ali to honor their agreements if it is useless to do so.
