Im closing this thread.
where is Kehkashan? is is a mall or a place name? is there any particular karigar that you would suggest
yeh the shop called 'designers' in kehkashan is awesome but they charge relatively more than what other people charge at kehkashan, at the same time they have different stuff and very good quality of kaam and fabrics. however, they take A LOT of time. designers on zamzama also take a lot of time and feb is still shaadi season there. on my wedding, my sister got a lehnga made from 'designers' at kehkashan, although the kaam was superb (exact replica of a karma outfit) they had an awful tailor that didnt know how to do lehngas so he basically messed it up and we yelled at them for days and demanded they make a compelte new one and we got it sewn by our own tailor. if ur getting anything but a lehnga made thru them im sure it will come out looking fantastic. the real shop called 'the designers' have dresses from HSY, Karma, Nomi Ansari, and Sublime.
sumorani......i just wanted to ask how much did the lehenga cost you from kehkashan
Re: Wdding Clothes from Karachi
^a lil over rs.30k that included the fabric, dying, embroidery, and stitching. We got it stitched from our tailor cuz their tailor can't stitch a lehgna for their life.

Kehkashan center has some amazing kaam wala's
The Designers @ Zamzama is also very good....I got very beautiful stuff made by a designer there....just amazing!
I also know a family friend of my hubby's who copies designer stuff and is very good. Let me know if you want her phone number and email address.
Hey hun. can i get the contact info plzz:) and do u have anyy pix of outfits by himm? if u cud upload it.. dat wud b XCELLENT:) THANKZZ

yeh we did get our own fabric but after they ruined it the first time, they ended up buying the fabric themselves, dying it and then doing the embroidery all over again. when it was all done we took it to our tailor his name is Arif, he is located in Phase 4 in the commercial area on 9th Commercial Street there. I forgot his store number but he's pretty popular, if you end up going there you can ask any shopkeeper there and they will tell u.
SGC - 30,000 up is very steep....hope you did mean 3 000...otherwise its cheaper to get stuff from here... Bit cheeky but if you don't mid how much was your wedding dress? I want to get a rough idea of what i'll be spending...friends of mine got really pretty dresses for about 30, 000 from pakistan so i was thinking i could get something very special for about 60, 000. I don't really care if it's designer or not...sounds realistic?
How long do the Kaam walas at Gizri take to do all the embroidery?
Oh and any idea about jewellery? I have a feelimg i'm going to get a very small Walima set from the inlaws :( so i might have to make a fake gold lookalikey set...where's the best place for that?
Oh and shoes???
Makkah Cloth house and Mohsin sons have some nice stuff if you are not going for designer labels....and they are in Rabi Centre on Tariq Road I think...my cousin got alot of her jahez clothes made from them and they looked pretty nice....She got a fully worked beautiful saree for 8000 an year back ..the kaam is intricate and the designs are quite nice.....and the prices arent that crazy...You can definitely get a beautiful outfit for 60,000 or maybe less...I am not that crazy about Labels as long as I feel happy with what I am wearing so I got a few from there myself...
Designers at Zamzama is quite nice...but more for formal wear rather than Bridals...or atleast the ones I saw werent all that great...
Check out the shops at Gulf for silver gold plated jewellery...there arent many shops there but the ones I did check out had the nicest collection...for a really bridal set ...they can charge you anywhere from 25-30,000 rps...
I got most of my shoes from Walkeze and the shop beside it...
My husband got his sherwani from Royal Silk Palace in Saddar...and I loved it...they are really particular about the sherwani fitting and it always comes out perfect cuz a few of my cousins also got theirs from the same place... I think they also have ready made sherwanis that they can alter for you...
Kaam walas usually take 2-3 weeks and then you can expect the tailor to take about the same time....I would recommend Gulf and Kehkeshan for kaam, gulf being a lil cheaper option comapred to Kehkeshan....but then 1 week is just not enough to get anything made really...or else you place your orders and get them delivered through someone.....Also there are boutiques at Zamzama other than Designers like Palki, etc ...Spend a whole day to look around Zamzama and then shop the next day...

if i go by taxi than how should i tel the taxi driver.should i tell him phase 4, 9th commercial street.
if he ask me the place name than what should i tell him
Re: Karigar in Karachi
all u need to say is phase 4, 9th comm street and then ask a shop there like the shops that sell laces, they will let u know. He is a big, dark colored man.
Re: Karigar in Karachi
thanks sumorani.....one last question where is kehkishan and is it a mall name or a place name....and yea can you suggest some particular boutique in kehkashan who can copy designs of those big pakistani designers
^a lil over rs.30k that included the fabric, dying, embroidery, and stitching. We got it stitched from our tailor cuz their tailor can't stitch a lehgna for their life.
and yea sumorani do you remember the name of the boutique where u made your sister's lehenga
Re: Karigar in Karachi
I think she said it was called The Designers in Kehkashan.
sumorani u r so righttt abt not going to tariq road..thers not much good stuff there except some shops which are very famous but rabi centre was awful and i had to wait like till 12 to get ready for shopping btw if u r looking for readymade stuff do go to bareeze, gulahmed, chenone, generation etc
where is bareeze, gulahmed, chenone and geneation
