MQM is one of many ills facing the city. It has many terrorists among its ranks who kill people for their ethnicity, or even religion. But it is not the most responsible for making Karachi the crime capital of the country.
It has been collecting ‘forced chanda’ from traders since long. Usually in the range of a few thousands. But now the criminals supported by provincial government are collecting it in hundreds of thousands. This is why traders are rising up against this menace now. They never complained so vigorously before.
It is like Taliban. They have played big part in making Karachi a warzone but just like MQM, they are also not the most significant factor responsible.
