I so wanted to go to "makli" graveyard but thanks to my cousins, they scared me so much that I just stayed home.
They also told me tale of bride(dead) who come out on karsaz road to kill people.

So, I was in Karachi during Nov/Dec 2004 at the end of Ramadhan. I was a stranger in my own homeland after 7 years when I had visited the beloved Karachi back in 1998. I was to celeberate Eid with my family after 10 years.

IK Dihaai ka Qissa hai
koi dau chaar baras ki baat naheeN!

So, the eid came in and went, but the memories of it will stay forever.

Karachi has changed a lot in those few years. The slow but steady process of changing normal daily routine of the residents is becoming more like of big cities of USA. Nonetheless, this Uroos-ul-Bilaad, in many ways still cherish many of the same old trademarks that beautifies the uniqueness of the city. The very same old Sign Boards along with new ones. The same TOLET signs, only to mention that now the phone numbers are of a cell phone or even an email address mentioned on them. Same lovely advertisment boards of the product of Hamdard. Same Rooh Afza, and same Carmina, and even same Hamdard Gripe water on the walls of Karachi. Same Farzana Dawa khana, Dastageer number 9. All in all, these are the very advertisement boards under the shadow of which, we grew up.

The trucks and Rickshaws still have the same, and in many cases pretty new and attractive poetry. One Rickshaw had written at its back** MaiN BaRa ho kar Truck BanooN gaa.**

One day, I was travelling with my younger brother and was headed towards the downtown of the city, The Sadar.

I was re-living my early years in Karachi by reading all the sign boards and whatever thing that had some thing written on it. Professor Naagi, and Naagori Milk Shop were some of the very missed signs among those.

All of a sudden, a cart came in the way. There was something written on Urdu on top of it. I read it once. It was Aamir Bin Kabaab.

Aamir Bin Kabaab? HaiN???:konfused: “Is he related to Muhammad Bin Qasim or Ussama Bin Ladin?” I was really confused.

But the very next second, I was smacking myself:smack: “Yo man! you have been missing your street-urdu reading for too long. Namaaqool:halo: it’s no Aamir Bin Kabaab. It’s **Aamir Bunn Kabaab **(Bun kabaab = The burger).”

See, you need zer, zabar, pesh, namely the aa’raab, for even your own language if you are away from it for too long.

I am so much scared that I will lose my urdu :teary1:

What to do? What to do? Oh man! I am hungry I need some Bunn Kabaabsssssssss:bummer:

yaar i dunno about what happened to hassan square… i have something else to share though

A day in high school:

So, it was during when we were in 9th grade.

Our School decided to take us [all the sections of class 9th] to a computer and science Fare in Avari Tower Hotel on Shahrah-e-Faisal and Karachi Steel Mill tour.

I remember all of us sitting in a Silver color Karachi Steel Mills Point bus.

What a day it was.

We were taken to every inch of the mills. I can certainly recall to visit a “Furnace” where our chemistry teacher started to take our exam :smack: She was one heck of a teacher

Everyone of us had enough “AfshaaN” on their hair and faces [from the atom size iron flakes] after we got out of the mill…

While returning back from Avari Tower and also from Steel Mill, we peeled Oranges and threw the peels towards traffic polic constables on Shahra-e-Faisal :rotfl:

That was such a fun day…
