KC ROCKS!!! ![]()
Guppies have pretty much explained each place. I took me a while to recognize these places as I haven't been there since God knows 8 years or so. Last time when I visited Pakistan I didn't even care to go there. My family/relatives used to live in areas around Hyderi, Nazimabad before we all moved.
SO... how was the culture-shock?
Mehnaz these pictures are superb but these are all old ares of Karachi. Where are the new ones? And hey there is no pic of sea-view either.
really enjoyed the pictures mehnaz,
thanks for sharing them
Honestly, I don't think I went to the new parts of Karachi. I didn't know where to go .... it was my first time there since the age of 3. I did go to Seaview, but it smelled quite bad. :p I did take pics but I'm in them so I won't be posting any of the Clifton/Defence area. :D
Pakistani Tiger, the culture shock was intense. :D I cried when I got there cause I wanted to leave ... get on the first flight out of there. Khair, after the first week, I got used to the intense smell, the continuous sounds, the beggars and hearing "mashallah" everywhere I went. :D
Mashallah
Do you intend to visit Pakistan again?
Definitely! I actually miss it now that I'm back. I guess I miss the care-free nature of the place .... the continuous chaos. I would like to visit again either this year or next year and go to the new places in Karachi and visit Punjab as well.
Interesting, you want to go back Pakistan after facing all that suffering? Many people who grew up abroad have different views. I guess you like the chaos atmosphere. :)
PT, i would have thought the views are diff in the positive. Living a robotic existence in a concrete jungle is hardly riveting stuff. Nearly every paki i know in England loves it back home..there are the odd few typical pardesi nutcases who go on about the flies :p
Mehnaz, wonderful..babes you cried when you got there??? LOL I do too. I've been so many times and lived for months at a time but it does take you sometime to get used to, pretty much like anything.
Khi seems nice..but you HAVE to visit punjab, NWFP..the rural areas of pak really capture the spirit of Pakistan. I hate the idea of going from one city to another. If you're gona go for different..you might as well make it REALLY different :D

Ducky, it's about the average lifestyle. It's so different in Pakistan unless if you live in high society areas of Karachi and Lahore where everything is just a phone call away. I can't imagine an abroad grown up Pakistani guy/girl taking mini bus to travel in the city just like a average Pakistani who has lived all his/her life there.
See what I mean? That's why I was shock to learn that Mehnaz still wants to go back Pakistan and she likes the whole choas atmosphere there. You know if I go back to the same old neighborhood place where I spent my childhood, I wouldn't survive a day.
PT, my relatives in Karachi do not live in Defence or Society or any where close to the posh areas. Then again, I stayed at a hotel. :p Khair, I travelled on the local colourful buses and rikshaws in Karachi everyday. What's the point in going if you aren't willing to experience local life? Of course, that is within reason cause I wouldn't last a day if I didn't stay at a hotel .... I tried it for one day and couldn't handle it ... checked into a hotel the following day.
Mehnaz - keep the pictures coming, its been long that i have been home :(
so true mehnaz: u cant experience khi if u havent travelled in mini busses or ate from those tehlaas :D
cant wait to go visit khi this year.. i always get sick in khi the first few days.. maleria or tummy problems ..hehe but oh well its all worth it in the end.
Karachi | Once in a blue moon
People gather at Karachi’s Clifton Beach on Saturday evening to witness a rare blue moon, which was last observed in Pakistan in 2001.
