In different sessions, the conference speakers said that tolerance and brotherhood was not a festival to be observed only on certain days, like the month of Muharram nor because of unfortunate incidents like sectarian violence. They urged religious freedom and for people to follow their religion without intervention from others. They said, “People should not be exploited in the name of religion and the state should play an impartial role in this issue.” They called for the law to be amended to protect the people’s religious rights. They said that religion was a personal issue and state had nothing to do with it. They called for a democratic and secular state.
