Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
Even with mush gone, the same corrupt army and feudals will remain.
Then why the heck is the benevolent and infalliable MQM in alliance with the same corrupt military and feudals...
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
In order to be pro-zia you have to be pro-islam…very few are willing to go out on the limb to take that risk these days…
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
Its an Army/PML-Q/MQM govt buddy...
Actually its an Army government. The rest are lotas, and yes I include MQM in it right now. I hope MQM at least now breaks ties with the army government.

Yes, it was a mistake, many thought Mush would be different, but he is of the same pind culture. I hope MQM rethinks its position soon.

yes this is the time, GOVT's popularity is at it least, elections are due, we have ruled for 5 years... there is going to be a interim govt in Nov 07 any way, so why not quit the govt. before govt is overthrown. :D
Typical Lota behaviour, like Qazi i think MQM have also realised that they have made a mistake.... can't stop laughing

Well if the MQM are lotas, then why are you supporting them, all while crtisizing the establishment for denying the people their rights?
Your party is fighting against feudal rule, and yet your joining hands with other oppurtunist FEUDAL lotas of PML.
And the Military is useing these parties to prop up their democratic facade... So you part of this setup...

MQM is guilty of far more then just collusion... They went against the intrests of the nation and against their own responsibility as the govt of Sindh, all at the behest of the military and govt...
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
Democracy as we've known it before that is. By no means a fresh, refined, pure or respectable version...
Democracy in the 3rd world means making deals and getting positions of power and influence, not the refined, pure and respecatable version we have in the west. Hence, we have had Nawaz making deal to save his skin and flee into Royal exile, the MMA making a deal to safeguard the gains they made in 2002, and now BB desperately seeking a deal to get back to Pakistan and save the party for herself from those strutting the stage in her absence.
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
The month of June is here!
Many observers are saying that if Musharraf is still in power in the last week of June, then he is safe. That is because that is the latest time period in which to dissolve parliament and call elections in early September and stop Musharraf’s Presidential re-election plans. After that Pakistani’s will be into Ramadan, and general elections will not then be able to be held until 2008.
Even military-hater Ayaz Amir’s has commented on Aalsi’s great analysis. ![]()
But the political parties, victims of confusion or expediency, lag behind. They still have a role to play but only if they can bring themselves to adopting a clear, unambiguous stand regarding Musharraf’s ‘reelection’. And to be of any use, they must do this now, in the next 20-30 days, rather than wait for Sep/Oct when it might already be too late.

Interesting analysis Aalsi. You seem to have an insight into these happenings. Do you work for the ISI or even RAW? ![]()
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
In the meantime ex-PM Jamali launches his new party, the ‘Musharraf’ Muslim League (MML). Sorry Muttahida Muslim League. ![]()
Interestingly he is talking about reconciliation with the PPP, and including the MMA and MQM. Just what the General-President would say. I see the new “MML” as the new boarding ship for anti-Shujaat PML Q members to climb onto as soon as the deal with the PPP is clearly apparent to all, if it is not already. Quite a master stroke by the establishment.
The month of June does seem to a defining period for how things will evntually shape up.
Zafarullah Jamali launches new party
Former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Thursday announced the formation of a new political party, the Muttahida Muslim League (MML). “The prevailing situation in the country demands reconciliation with political parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP),” Jamali told a press conference here at Kingri House after holding a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Functional chief Pir Pagaro. He advocated a two-party system in the country, saying the system existed in many countries. He said the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ammal (MMA) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had their specific role in the country’s politics. Jamali ruled out that he would rejoin the ruling PML. He said he did not see any possibility of elections this year despite repeated statements by the president, prime minister and Chaudhry brothers that this was “election year”. He said there was lack of discipline in Pakistani politics. “As a prime minister I strove hard to unite different factions of the PML but could not,” he said, adding that he had to resign from the premiership to save the parliament and let it complete its tenure.
Jamali said he was a “Leaguer” by birth and that he would struggle for the honour and dignity of the League. “My priory and concern is Pakistan and then the Muslim League,” he added. He rejected the notion that his move to form the MML was motivated by General Musharraf. He said he had no backing from General Musharraf for the move and that he had been part of PML-Q to date due to General Musharraf. Asked if he would mediate between Musharraf and the chief justice, he said he was not fit for the task. Asked if he would vote with the ruling coalition for the passage of the budget in the assembly, he said he would take a decision after analysing the situation

You might very well think that, but I can't possibly comment :whistling
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
so is it ur opinion or r u quoting observers?
I still have my doubts. He can go past June in his armor but eventually he’ll have to defend his uniform in SC. At the current pace of things, I doubt he’ll be able to cling onto it. Time will tell.
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
I guess the new “Musharraf” Muslim League (MML) will have the wardi as it’s symbol. ![]()
Re: June 2007: Will be a decisive month for Pakistan.
Bhaijan, it is my opinion, it also seems to be the opinion of leading political analyst Ayaz Amir whom I quoted in my post earlier. It seems that even he believes month of June is crucial in what happens to Musharaf.
Wardi or wardi, Army is here to stay. Pakistani politics and Army will always be an integral part. It is unfortunate that people fight amongst each other where there is no need. If everyone understood the ground realities as some of us have, and concentrated on the bigger picture, then we all can work towards the development of the country, rather than party politics, i.e PPP v PML v MQM v PPP-L v ppppp-pppp etc.
Mark my words, what is taking shape over the coming weeks will shape the destiny of Pakistan for decades to come. These are the most significant development in Pakistan history since its creation.
