hey i had this kind of masnath for my nikah and reception both!
for the nikah we had two different settings in two different rooms (for bride and groom) - but not on the floor; we put the masnath on a 'takhat'... easier for people with knee problems to sit along with you.
however for the reception (it was laid on the floor of the stage) let me tell you, wearing a heavy lehenga it's pretty annoying to sit on the floor :P
