JI to PTI – ‘Good looking Jamaat-e-Islami’

Re: JI to PTI – ‘Good looking Jamaat-e-Islami’

I neither understand nor approve of Imran’s affinity for JI esp. after what it’s activists did to him during Mush’s emergency in 2007 when like jangli uncivilized people they bundled him into the back of a van. But to say that Imran supports extremism and terrorism is an eyewash.

As far as I am concerned there is no place for religious parties in politics

Correct me if I am wrong but this is the history of our rulers, civilian and military. **They are all guilty of pandering to the religious right at some point for kursi. **So why just single out Imran? … just because he is an ex-cricketer and celebrity

  • Ayub Khan launched a campaign against Fatima Jinnah’s presidential eligibility using Islam and Maudoodi’s JI
  • Zulfikar Ali Bhutto declared Ahmedis non-muslims (under pressure from mullahs)
  • Zia inserted the Ahmedi clause on Pakistani passports (his sham islamization)
  • NS inserted blasphemy clause in the constitution (again under pressure from mullahs) and so on

A citizen of Pakistan should not have to declare his faith on passport

JI may not win many seats but they are (unfortunately) a reality in Pak politics. And you are very naive if you think that these so-called secular parties (PPP, MQM, ANP etc.) do not have atleast some level of co-operation and understanding with even mullah parties like JI and MMA. They just don’t do it so publicly
