jewelry on wedding day.

Re: jewelry on wedding day.

I had quite a lot of gold gifted from both sets of parents- however, its kinda sad because I don’t really get to wear much of it. My husband’s family consists of all brothers and I wear hijab so it’s all covered up. Only thing I can wear is bangles and rings- which I do but all the beautiful necklaces and earrings are collecting dust

Re: jewelry on wedding day.

i know how you feel. I have the same problem :frowning: My family and circle of friends usually have segregated gatherings so I can sometimes show off my jewellery, but I have to plan my outfit in advance so I can go get my jewellery from the bank. Mostly it just sits in the bank.
As for the originial question, I did not wear real gold at my wedding. I recieved a lot of gold from both sides of the family (alhamdolillah), but because I had my wedding in Pakistan, my mom refused to let me wear real gold jewellery. I was on board since I was kinda nervous about Pakistan anyway. I ended up getting a really nice faux diamond set for the wedding and a nice polki set for the valima so it all worked out great in the end. At my mom’s wedding though, she wore real gold jewllery and a lot of it too. Apparently Biharis in those days were all about decking the bride up in every piece of gold she was gifted from the bride’s side of the family.
