I went to the Jersey CIty Mela, it was decent. Some amreekan chick Jessica was singing desi beats....I thought that was cheezy. WHy couldn't they arrrange just 1 single desi band that's good SIGH wish strings was there.
Anyhow Shalimar/Shahnawaz had food stalls...which is main reason i stopped by but it wasn' t that great, esp the papri was yukky! anyhow it was fun to be in exchange place by the water. I work there as well, so it was fun to see it crowded with desi folks.

PS. The parade is only a poond fest if you want it to be...and if you seek that attention. Trust me. Once at battery park mela, me and mom were looking for bathroom ended up by the water side. OH MY GOD! sooo manyy girls were walking around as were so many guys trying to hook up...so basically if people are asking for it, they will find poond and hook up. Otherwise if you mind your business with the family and enjoy music/food/stalls/food/more food/and just enetertainment/food....you will have fun. PS. I will travel many lengths for good desi food, or rather hopes of good desi food. WHat I like about parade/mela is that sooo many restaurants have stalls at one place! and you dont have to go far to try a little bit of everything

yep i so agree...i don't know why but pakistani foods now adays taste like total crap. no jokes, the food they had in nyc mela was yukh also, half cooked weird tasting....i wonder why they do this.
did they have any clothings or what not??

When is the Brooklyn mela? Is it on Coney Island Avenue? Also when is the Paki Day Parade? Any idea?
