no doubt mqm was involved in the may 12 mayhem. but so were other parties. anyone who thinks otherwise is a devious liar or a deluded fool. both kinds of people are not worthy of debate. imran khan, who has has suddenly jumped on the anti-mqm bandwagon, was 10 years ago accusing ppp of bombing his hospital. and yet today imran khan wants to form an alliance with ppp. the fact that two-bit politicians like imran khan are scared of mqm is ample evidence of the continued effectiveness of mqm in countering the jehadi support behind imran khan's back.
haqiqi had support of agencies much like jehadis did. agencies help against mqm was utilised by parties who could not dent mqm vote bank. haqiqi centre of operation in karachi was much like the jamia hafisa. when mqm switched its support to the centre, LEAs moved against haqiqi stronghold just like LEAs moved against jamia hafisa. interestingly the APC declaration specifically calls for the release of afaq hussain there by indicating that a. politicians intend to do same damage to karachi that they did in the 90's and b. accusations against mqm leadership is politically motivated. also APC has elements who are supporting balochi terrorists who have killed more LEAs than mqm ever did. bottom line politicians only want power and they dont care if the country goes into flames.
mqm being violent does not counter the fact that jehadi are killing pakistanis through suicide bombings and sectarian killings. govt is well within its rights to target that group first which govt perceives is a bigger threat to pak. the fact that jehadi supporters here keep dragging mqm's name in any discussion about jehadis is ample proof that they cant morally or logically defend jehadi actions so they want to switch the debate.
