so whaz going on??? are we arguing who knows more arab ppL??
then beat this.. i was born in bahrain.. lived all my life there .. studied there, n everythiNG…b4 i came to u.s. for muh studies. now u know arabic more than me or i do? and Alhumdulillah i’ve been to saudia many times too.
I don’t know why people have started to think that I am trying to enforce something upon them which I believe is right. The fact is that I am quite open-minded about someone’s point of view as long as they are willing to listen to others. I am hardly interested who has got more friends in the middle east and how many years u have spent learning Arabic. All I am asking is just to be an open-minded person.
Problem is that Arabic is such a language that you have to take care of very minute things. For example in Soorah e Naas we read *** …. Minal jinnati wan naas meaning I seek refuge from Jinns * ** . Now, if we make a slight change and say ** minal jannati wan naas then the meaning changes completely saying I seek refuge from heaven**
Similarly,
Fakana aqibatoha innahuma fin naari khalidina feeha wa zalika jaza uz zalimeen (Al – Hashr 59: Ayat 17)
The end of both will be that they will go into the Fire, dwelling therein forever. Such is the reward of the wrong-doers.
…….Kazalika jaza ul kafireen ( Al Baqarah 2 Ayah 191)
…….Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.
Now, how on earth would you think that there will be reward for kafireen ( who suppress faith).
ALL I AM ASKING ALL OF YOU IS TO ASK ANYONE WHO SPEAKS ARABIC AND IF THEY SAY I AM WRONG I WILL RETIRE. COULD U DO THAT?????
khan_sahib,
If you read my post above I have addressed the issue exactly from this angle…
As I said above, although you are right on the ‘literal’ meaning of the word jaza, it still doesn’t change anything on the matter of saying Jazak-Allah or saying Jazak-Allahu-kahairan.

That means - this is the reward for the non-believers.
jaza = reward
so the reward they will get will be BAD.
and thats why we say to muslims. JAzak Allah Kheir. and Kheir means good.
It is the beauty of The QUran that sometimes it has reffered to the End of the Non-beleivers as they are rewarded or entertained. But that entertainment/reward is BAD.
Here is an example from Surah # 37 Surah Saffaat
Ayah # 62
Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum?
63 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust.
# 64 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell;
Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents.
Now the entertainment of Believers is compared to the non-believers. The Paradise is compared to the Tree of Zaqqum which is the tree of Hell.
Jaza is the reward for the deeds. if good deeds then its good reward. if bad then its bad.
Yes, I did read your post and agree what u say regarding the literal meaning but if you read my first post then you would realise that all I am asking is to create awareness among fellows here that it is wrong to just say Jazak Allah. I know there is no harm in saying that but if you are saying Jazak Allah then an extra word is the way it should be said.
