Jan Rambo - A message for the Pakistani media

Re: Jan Rambo - A message for the Pakistani media

You cannot force-feed entertainment. People choose.

You should not cry for attention you do not deserve. I know Bollywood movies are pathetic, no great substance, same old formulas. The thing wrong with Pakistani industry is that they try to copy Bollywood. What happens when you try to poorly copy an already sub-standard product? Surprise! You know what happenned when Pakistani TV channels started copying Indian TV soaps, right?

If after decades of being ignored by Pakistani general public, the movie industry still doesn’t know what’s wrong with it (your analogy of wife cooking badly for several years without any improvement), there has to be something wrong with the industry, not with the public.

Given a choice between watching a documentary about Aamir Khan making a Bollywood movie and watching a documentary about how Jan Rambo and Sahiba prepare for acting, I’d rather watch the former.

Given a choice between watching 2 hours of Pakistani pop music and Indian pop music, I would go for the former, even though Indian pop musicians might have much better resources and facilities at their disposal.

If the movie industry is not producing what television viewers might like, why force it upon them? Why does cinema want TV to help them? Indian and Pakistani cinema thrived before the arrival to TV in our countries. Interestingly, Indian TV channels HAVE to add Bollywood content to their programmes to attract attention.
