It's about Islam

I am anything but a hatemonger. I hold all fundamentalists with the same contempt. Be they hindu, muslim, shinto or whatever.
Although, I must admit that it amazes me that I can say anything inflammatory about any other religion and engage people in a healthy debate, but if were to say the sae about islam, the insecurity of its fundamentalist adherents issue a fatwa for my death.

"It is a duty of all muslims to kill him or anyone who speaks ill about the prophet and the quran said so" that kind of logic is reprehensible. The quran was written in the seventh century, because of the necessity during those times for mohammed to establish his divine right to rule and dispell dissension, he probably asserted that. ".... questioning his legitimacy or that of his god should be punishable by death."
This makes more sense than some blind belief that god said don't question god and mohammed, or else! Peace loving...you tell me!

First: It is not proposed in Quran or traditions of Prophet Mohammed PBUH to kill anyone who says ill of Prophet PBUH.

Second: If you are a guy, and love a girl, how would you feel if someone calls that girl a wh0re, slu+, bi+ch etc? what about someone calling names for your parents? would you be very happy with that? Perhaps you would get angry. you'd probably pickup guns and powder and get all over that person. This is almost same for Muslims, they don't want to listen ill of their beloved Prophet PBUH, does that make some sense?

Third: Let me tell you a little about Prophet PBUH's life and how he wanted us to behave. On his usual routes to/from home, there was an old lady's house, she was non-beleiver. She hated him because he was preaching a different faith than hers, so she started to throw trash on him whenever he passed by. He didn't stop her. One day she didn't throw trash. He inquired her of her health and found her sick. She asked him why was he worried about her while she threw trash on him, he said that she didn't do it that day and made him worry about her well being.........

does it help you understand why Muslims today are at the bottoms of morality?

Salman Rusdie is wrong when he says 'its about Islam', as his own reasoning in this article shows that he believes *'its about Muslims' *

He criticizes the Muslims for blaming others (the west specifically) of their own ills, a point raised & believed by many other Muslims too.

If he really believed it to be about 'Islam' he would have argued from the teachings of Islam & the current situation ... but he didn't.

Now, some will say that he titled the article 'its about Islam' to gain cheap popularity. Others will say it's his way of communication. I say ... leave it to Allah to decide about his intentions & don't give him more credit than he deserves being a writer. Everything that he says is neither wrong nor an absolute truth, just his views & he has the right to express them as we have the right to disagree.

would you mind providing any Quran's verse, or a reference to Prophet's traditions to prove your point?

Roman Bhai,

Swaying totally towards the semantics or theory will be swaying away from the path of Holy Prophet (saw). He believed in the path of 'aytadal' (balance). Considering theory & semantics equally important ... as they balance each other out.

Secondly, Muslims at large don't know much about semantics or theory ...

It's the Maulvies who are afraid of loosing their grip! Their status in the society, their rigid ideologies is being threatened. And they are the ones upset about it... & trying desperatly to get the common Muslim behind them.

Blaming its the West, the root of all evil. I guess no one asks them, where were they sleeping when the Muslims were going down the hill morally & culturally since several hundred years. Must be eating their sweet 'hulwa'! Now that their 'halwa' is in japordy ... they have no choice but to protest!

See this is the problem here, I am a muslim and strive to be a better one day after day, but unfortuntely and regretably i gotta admit my brethren appear as stupid as they can reiterating something in a wrong context and wrong interpretation.

In Qoran, there is no place where it says to go and disintegrate anyone who blasphemies Islam, no that is totally basless, all these things come from Hadith and are related to a certain context not rigidity. In our history there have been times where it was ordered to kill a Murtid (someone who converts to Islam to cause detriment to it, or who one who denounces his faith in Islam and goes on a rampage against it), there is no such thing that states to kill a non muslim who never believed in Islam from the first place. These killings are more politically backed that religously motivated in their times. Incase of a war ofcourse everything goes but even there certain bounds must be exercised.

I think even my muslim bretheren should atleast knwo what they say before they start quoting things and create confusions. Your personal faith must be build up strong enough before you decide to preach it, if you still want to you should restrain from giving stupid and false answers, either bring someone informative and authentic enough to answer it do some research with authentic people before answering it.
