I don’t think it’s a bad idea to wear black, esp if it’s an indoor/nighttime wedding. i think the rule is if it’s an outdoor wedding in the daytime, light colors would look nice (pale pink, cream, beige, etc) and if its at night indoors, then darker colors would be appropriate (maroon etc)…
Also, considering she’s wearing a black SARI, i dont think the guests might get offended..because she’s wearing a cultural dress and they might figure that in our culture black is not for mourning. Think abt it, if a gora came to our wedding dressed in white (because in our culture, white is typically a mourning color) would we get offended?
There was a pretty in-depth discussion on what would be appropriate to wear to a non-desi wedding… In the end though, it’s a good idea to just ask the bride (if she’s the one who invited u) if it would be alright
