"Open to"? Next you'd say nobody sent me a ticket!
Ok, seriously tho, sit by urself one day, and ask yourself the question "What is my purpose of of going to school in N.America?
-Is it to study and learn new things in the area you're in? *I am sure I will learn new things. Its always good to know more than one way of doing things.
*-Is it to further your career and get promotions? *Yes - If I am working, I need to go up. at least to a certain level where I am earning a nice decent amount. I have seen ppl sitting on one seat/one position for 20-30yrs. They didnt do any thing for their career growth. I dread that life.
*-Is it to get into a new career where there might be more potential of advancements and income? *No I would not want to start up a whole new career. Unless there is something really interesting, something that i would love to do and something that will require less time. (of course you need experience every where.)
*-Or is it to study in NA and check out how it is to live there? *I want to experience the American life style. It attracts me.
*
This is just so you'd get a understanding on why. Next should come the question of Where and What.
another reason is, i want to change my current set up. UAE is quite boring, and i have already spent the most imp. time of my life by just working day and night. I dont have any social life because you dont get to see many Pakistani families here.
An ideal break for me would be, take a break from my current job, become a student and do a part time job which is easy and totally different than what i am doing now. i wont mind serving at McDonalds etc. Actually it would be interesting and exciting.
The specific degree that i am talking about from UoIT, heavily depends on your experience rather your previous degree. Though undergrad degree in CS/IT is preferred.
UoIT requires 1 Reference letter from your employer - whcih clearly tells that they are being focused on market rather on academic.
TOEFL/IELTS
GRE if you can but UoIT isn’t big on it when it comes to MITS. I got admission without GRE
Undergrad in CS/IT
Reference Letters 1 from Academia and 1 from Employer
SOP
BTW - I heard it yesterday that UoIT has merged MITS program with MBA program. So i believe the updated curriculum is 2 years .. MITS + MBA.
you better talk to uoit officials. i can give you email id of one of the prof who is in admission comittee. You can ask her if you are eligible or not. since you have IT experience, I believe they will let you apply.
^ really? I dont believe. US and CAnada are places where all of us go for careers, studies, and consider it as dream destinations for living. Alone on GS there ae sooooooo many of you guys from these places. Mid East has been 2nd 3rd option for ppl so far. It may become the 1st choice now, due to all this economic changes, but before today it was only US, UK and Canada. Anyways I think it wont be bad or harmful (inshAllah) if i experience it for a short time. Cant be there for longer time (that too single) coz I cannot be so so far away from home.
There may be more pakistanis in US but its a much larger country with higher population than Abu dhabi.
only reason I am noting this is because one of your concerns about abu dhabi was the small number of pakistanis.
I don't think US or canada would be harmful at all :)

Don't take that as an indication of Pakistani population in these places... it may very well be that this is one of the primary means for socializing with Pakistanis since there aren't that many to socialize with offline - so you see us flocking here. I'm not saying there aren't... you'd find plenty esp. in bigger cities, but it's not going to be anywhere close to the number of people you see in Dubai etc.
