Mama , IMHO , these guys should deal such ethereal issues with bit of responsibility . you cant just shrug your shoulders and let it go by saying ‘ it doesn’t happen in reality’.
Well may u not gona buy that statement but there are thousand other out there ,who would lap up these stories .
Same as they read stories about Pakistan and other third world countries and consider them straight dope.

you can read almost anything these days in newspapers, esp those hi-class (being sarcastic here) publications like daily news....
what remains important is REALITY...do the articles really reflect reality or do they find the farrest-out, most radical. obsessive and freaked out jerks they can find so that they can sell more papers. cause you know what? you can find these freaked out jerks if you look around hard enough and offer them enough money. But as offensive as they may be, they are really very far from the reality of life here arent they?
I mean ms sarah, have you EVER in your life met anyone who can come even close to the type that you read about? I've been here for over 3 decades and have yet to meet one of those.
Mama, just like the majority of posters here are anonymous they can say lots of things to shock and disgust you---i'm sure u knw xactly who/what i'm referring to. Newspapers/online forums, they all offer anonymity for smeone to speak the truth. So no i've not met anyone personally who'd say "lets kill iraqi childreN" however it is troubling to even read it. And btw, not sure if it matters or not, but it wasn't an article (to write an article, one has to be distinguished w/ something) but just some nobody in this country giving their opinion.

Yes sadly that poor iraqi WILL take it at face value. Why not? Its in print. And thats the truly sad thing. I mean it will be attribulted to ALL americans right? Yet I've lived here all my life and I can say with all due respect and all due confidence that the vast majority of american DO NOT agree with current foreign policy, DO NOT agree with prisoner torture, war in iraq etc and would NEVER abide the things being purported here. Sadly, the vast majpority of us do not know what to do to change things other than voting for the most peaceful-seeming of candidates but you have to realize that most americans are not the evil ones that some purport us to be.

vast majority of Americans still voted for BUSH in the last elections despite knowing about the truth of iraq not having WMD, no ties to al-qaeda and 911 and was not a threat to any nation on Earth. care to explain what vast majority of Americans were thinking they voted for Bush the 2nd time? u seem to know more about American mentality than any of us.

I'm a bit surprised at those of you who live here and post this kind of thing,.I mean you can read almost anything in some of these newspapers these days but since you LIVE here, have you ever experienced these types of attititudes or comments? I havent.
Without going in to details of what everyone said, I must say that I totally agree with mamof3. In last 17 yeras of my stay in USA, I dont reemeber a single time where a a respectful, authorotative and responsible american ever discrimnated me.
Now I am not talking about border patrol people. No doubt while entering USA from Canada, I went through some hardships but that is OK, What happened in this country on 9/11, it is a surprise that muslims still have their mosques and homes and jobs, and credit goes to americans for that.
If it was Pakistan, there would be far more violance and chaos against muslims like what happened to bengalis in Pakistan and non-bengalis is east pakistan in 1971.

its always about me isn't it. if its ok with me then it will be ok with everyone. you have not suffered anything but what about those that are in jail bcos they were termed as terrorists. no charges laid. no rights to a trail aswell. what was their fault then? but then when everything is ok in my world, everything will be on in everyones world as well.
PS : iraq/afghanistan are suffering the brunt of 911. so why should you be worried. they are dieing thousands of miles away from your cozy home. so all is well.

i had lived in ME for about 18 years. and only after coming to canada i heard about bad stuff going on in ME. one can say its bcos of the censorship of media in ME but then free media in west is free only to spread propaganda as long as its not about the parties in power and as long as its not against jews. baqi sab chalta hai.

Its not about Me, I am not talking about USA foreign policies here, I am talking about US culture and how a normal american behaves with foriegners in general.
I am worried about Iraqis and Afghanis dying as much as I am worried about Pakistanis dying in Pakistan, maybe more. And they are not dying because of USA. They are not dying because some Adam West or John Smith is blowing himself in a crowd full of innocent people.
Its not about me my friend, but it does start with me :)
