How long has he been doing this for? He could be teething.

My son is 18 months and we’re going through the same thing for the past 4-5 days where he doesnt want to eat anything solid… happy to have his doo doo bottle and ice cream but any solid food and it’ll just come out. And this is from a child who Mashallah eats very well most times..

Take him to the doctor if you’re really worried. Might be teething.. ear infection or tummy ache?

he been doing for a month or so. he is teething. I am planning to take him to dr next week.

Some questions/suggestions:

1. Is his cot in a separate room or in your room? Can you remove one side and put him next to your bed, so he at least feels he is with you but you get more space?

2. DO NOT change his diaper every time he wakes up at night. Only if he has pooped or seems very wet/uncomfortable. Otherwise, let him be.

3. Do not speak to him or play at all at night. Keep lights off unless you need them on for a specific reason.

4. Keep a thermos of warm water in your room. Have formula premeasured so that all you have to do is mix everything together when he wakes up during the night. You shouldn’t have to leave your room. If it’s breast milk, it could probably last in a cooler in your room. If he’s already on to cow’s milk, I guess you’ll have to get it from the fridge.

5. Begin night-weaning. There are lots of different ways to do this, but I’d start by dropping one feed at a time. When he wakes, do not assume he is hungry. Try to get him to just go back to sleep (if he takes a pacifier, try that). If he’s used to being held or whatever, do that. Or just put him in bed with you if that’s what he’s used to. Don’t offer the bottle unless it’s necessary. If possible, let your husband try to settle him down, instead of you. 4-5 bottles a night is A LOT. Try only feeding him every other time, then eventually just once, and then none.

4-5 bottles is too much. Is he eating any snacks before dinner time. I don’t let my son snack for couple hours before dinner. Make sure he is engaged in lot of physical activity before dinner time. Hopefully, this will help with his appetite. Put some finger food in front of him that he can eat and play with while you feed him.

I used to add cerelac in my son’s milk. I never gave him milk until 4/5am the next morning. At the moment he knows that you will bring him milk. I will suggest you stop offering him milk. It will be difficult for few days but he will get used to it.

his cot is in out room infect next to my bed bt i have side rails on cot. as he moves alot hubby wouldnt remove the side rails. bt he doesnt sleep on it anyway.
he snakes alot on arnotts shapes and grapes and even water melon. he loves french fries. thats it. not other food goes inside in reasonable quantity. i dont allow him to play at night and light is dim too. hubby makes bottles too as one person has to hold him otherwise he would be out/under the bed!.

i think he wants to suck alot at night or even in his sleep. i try to settle him without bottle but rarely settles without bottle.

Lusi, do you add cerelac into your sons bottle?. my son wont eat cerelac. but i want to try this so his tummy is full.
