Israeli soldier held over shot Briton

Israel has arrested a soldier in connection with a shooting that left a British peace activist brain-dead.
Tom Hurndall, 22, was shot in the head while observing the Israeli army in Gaza in April, leaving him in a permanent vegetative state…

Apparently this action was taken because of extream diplomatic pressure, and it also points to the fact that how worthless human lives are, for these soldiers..

Details

So arrest is made if Briton is shot!

If a muslim is shot it does'nt matter right!

I'm quite surprised that he is being held accountable. i had always assumed Isrealis to be above international law.

The British are pathetic when it comes to care for citizens abroad.

Well well, i hope he gets the chair.

^ awfully mean of you, no?

A life for a life. No?

Death for a life that has yet to be proven guilty in court? No.

I was merely throwing around the reasoning behind the responce, perhaps. I happen to agree and can't be asked to argue.
G'day.

Read the article. The soldier himself changed his story and said he fired at an unarmed civilian.

court!!... proven guilty!!! yeah rite..... we are looking at three years most ... not more then that... since when Israel started beleiving in inoccent until proven guilty? here we are looking at the case where an Israeli court will run a trial against an soldier, here this soldier is just not soldier, he reflects the over all image of the army, I don't think that any Israeli court will be brave enough to acknowledge the brutual tactics used by the army, also keeping in mind that the charges against him are not disclosed yet (Murder charges or for negligence).

Mursalin if you are gonna edit my posts, please do so, so that they stilll make sense.

:)

And ignore the legal system? What happened to justice? What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

Yes, the soldier "claimed" responsibility, but so did the lad in the famous Clydach case.

^^ I just love when some one talks about "innocent until proven guilty". this all happened in Gaza, when Israeli Army was conducting an operation against "Palestinian terrorists".. what do you think about their right "innocent until proven guilty"!! or those two kids, whom Tom was trying to save, were proven guilty of terrorism in any Israeli court... and ofcourse... what about Palestinian camps in syria bombared three months back killing several Palestinians... were they also proven guilty in any court of law???

^ Let the damn Palestinians stop the suicide bombers and then we'll talk about justice. Israel has a legal system worthy of applauds, unlike the lovely Arab states that surround it. Justice? Yes - Israel provides it. Arab Justice? Yea, lets chop off some hands and poke out some eyes for stealing and looking at an arab's wife.

^ I will say.. make up your mind about what YOU beleive in......in your last post you pose as a person beleives in justice, and now talk about punishing before trail... They might have a fair juridical system for their citizens, but you can't live in this world with dual standards, by the way if they are so fair about all this then why not disclosing charges against him.. why not just say that this guy is a suspect of firing on an unarmed civilian and we will run a trail for attempted murder...!
as far as suicidal boming is concern, ever thought about the reasons behind it?? will you blow yourself just like that!! ever thought about that feeling of helplessness... no one just go and commit suicide... a person commits sucide when he sees no way out... Do you think that expansion in settlements in Gollan heights will stop these attacks.. or killing kids (thats what this soldeir was doing in the 1st place when this aid worker jumped to help) or the runing buildozer over peace activists like Rachel Corrie represents their willingness for peace.

Your "..."s make for a confusing read. Read what you wrote, put some meaning into it, and resubmit it for marking.

The Israeli legal system is a shining star surrounded by theocracies. Let them bring the soldier to justice and then you can start complaining about the outcome.

i rather say read it again when you are sober … and come back when you finish with the course work. Good luck .. :k:

Good god. I hate it when apologists talk out of their ass. Yes ignore the legal system. Becuase the legal system like any man is flawed. Readthe article, its been 8 bloody months since this incident happened. Some legal system to applaud. Honestly Pakistan is quicker.

Good work buddy, when you get accused for shooting someone in the head I'll petition for a court ruling within 2 days. You want quick results, and I'll give you quick results!

This is not a bagel stolen from a Jewish Bakery! Its about a guy being accused of trying to kill someone, an accusation where 8 months is not long.

The legal system is surely flawed in many aspects, but atleast it attempts to provide an unbiased ruling - something I have yet to see from any respondent to this thread.
