I am sure that you must know that israel is very good at torture tactics as you seem to know a lot about them. We see the mention of "oil" for iraq war [wouldn't saddam trade oil for his survival? he traded with us before] but the israeli angle isn't given much coverage in iraq. Pak military gave ppl an ample chance to come out and many did, they also went in and lost good men because they were trying to operate in a manner that would minimize any casualties of innocent hostages..and many of the hostages did escape due to this approach.
snipers on the other hand focus on specific targets and shoot them, and if they happen to be kids then I guess they were targeting kids.
