What should be done? How about they stick to the original rights charter pre-911. It was working just fine; there were plenty of terrorist pre 9-11 that were caught without these draconian mass invasive measures, why use 9-11 as a pre-text to abuse all basic rights?
Especially when, it wasnt actually the lack of intelligence that resulted in 9-11 occurring, they knew about it (including the method, timing and targets) right up to the white house (acc. to ex- CIA agents), but they refused to do anything about it because 9-11 gave them a blank cheque to do things they could only dream of previously.
So this controlling and invasive policy (big brother policy) is not an unexpected consequence as it were, but merely planned from the beginning.
And if any American politician was going to reel back the rogue authority, then that would have been obama ( considering his stance pre-election) but even he has failed miserably and pushed on bushs destructive policies with even more gusto.
He being a student of law, from havard, leftie, black, muslim background, experience of working for the poor… was the only hope. But he came into power and fell in line.. He is now known as bush on steroids.
Still, what i feel should be done is irrelevant, that horse has bolted from its cart on this one, and it doesn’t look like its gonna come back anytime soon. When your safeguards have left the building (corrupt judiciary and police, powerless lawyers, congress beholden to a foreign lobby, unlimited donations for campaigns, etc.) then you are simply stuck and its only a down ward spiral from there. I.e. it will only get worse.. So you can sit tight and ride it out, or seek out greener pastures anew.
