But the thing is that mullah iran is no friend to us either. In fact, the best times of the pakistani iranian friendship were when a western installed ruler was ruling our western neighbor, though I am not saying it would be again the same case if the west wins in iran again but you can see the difference now vs. then.

Iran is a friend with a lot of PMS issues. But a friend nonetheless. They openly back us in the UN and other international bodies. The Pakistani Embassy in the US is used by the Iranians. We coordinate with them on issues like the Israeli supported and funded Jundullah etc.

I can bet you that we might help with refugees and such, but we won't get invovled with the iran mess considering that if the war gets bigger, which it might though Israel really knows how to pull things off bar some mishaps, then US would be involved even if NATO is not involved.
Pakistan will not help any refugees unless they get aid from the foreign donors that's clear from the conditions in which our own idp's are living in balochistan and fata. As far as pakistans role in the war is concerned we should be neutral if we cannot side with the iranians as going with americans would have very bad consequences for the country.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Britain Wajid Shamsul Hasan said that Pakistan would be left with no option but to support Iran if Israel attacks it.
In an interview to a British newspaper The Sun published Wednesday, Hasan expressed his concerns over the United States’ “Drone Wars” that have taken the lives of hundreds of innocent civilians in Pakistan.
“We know the damage — destroyed schools, communities, hospitals. They are civilians — children, women, families. Our losses are enormous,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.
“I think time is running out until the Pakistan government can take a stand. They will have to at some stage take punitive actions to stop them. They have got means to take such actions to defend their own frontier and territories,” Hasan further added.
Hasan urged British Prime Minister David Cameron to convince the US that the drone attacks were counter-productive, making the American “the most hated people in the minds of the people in Pakistan.”
Talking about Iran, he said: “We wouldn’t like to be seen as part of Israel’s campaign against any country. If Israel attacks Iran, it will have an impact on Pakistan as well.”
“We will have to safeguard our own interests. We also have a Shia population in Pakistan who will not take it lying down.”

I don't think Pakistan will allow itself to be a party on either side as one aspect will have military consequence and the other will have economic repercussions. And even if Israel goes ahead with any such plan, it will be surgical and swift. In any case, that will unleash a monster that will eventually bite the whole world.

They might operate out of our embassy in the US, but they haven't been very supportive of our issues since like the mid-nineties. Iran hasn't supported us on kashmir, has different goals in afghanistan and did try to set up an indian-iranian military alliance though things didn't work out.

If Pakistan supported the Americans in this war it would be a can of worms as it could mean physical war with them on the balochistan front (which is already very weak considering the military campaign there) and then on the internal front I think the population is around 20% Shia which could be stirred by that action.

The funny thing about all this saber rattling is how no one is bothered by it. Israel openly says it wants to attack another country without provocation and everyone acts as if it's routine. Now if Iran said something of the sort, it'd be the bad boy asking for a spanking.
