I'm not sure I would attribute the "findings" to anti-Semitism although there might be some element of that skewing the numbers a little. More interesting to me are some other possible biases built into the survey/poll. Once of your links states as follows:
** "According to the El Pais report, questions have also been raised about the reliability of the questioning concerning countries that threaten world peace. For example India was included in the proposed list, but not Pakistan. " **
The decision to include India and exclude Pakistan from the questions is very, very suspect. The poll was apparently designed to identify perceptions as to "the biggest threat to world peace." It probably would be more reliable if it asked people about particular conflicts rather than individual countries.
A poll like this would be better:
What is the biggest threat to world peace:
1. India/Pakistan conflict over Kashmir;
2. Israel/Palestinian conflict;
3. US led war on terror;
4. Worldwide Fundamentalist Muslim terrorism;
5. Civil wars on African continent;
6. Nuclearization of Korean Peninsula;
7. China/Taiwan dispute;
8. Etc.
A valid point, however you’re overlooking the 2 for 1 value of the poll
“According to Spanish daily El Pais, a massive 59 percent of Europeans said they believed that Israel is the biggest obstacle to world peace.”
Not only is it recognised that the Isreali-Palestinian conflict is a hotbed of instability but also Israel is seen as the aggressor and unstable nation threatening not only regional but global peace.
Presumably people answering the poll were not given the choice of saying the country of Palestine was the biggest threat to world peace because there is no such country. I doubt Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Arafat, the PA or the Palestinians were included on the list for selection either.
Now, I personally do view the biggest threat to world peace as being the Iraeli/Palestinian conflict. It has the potential to rage far out of control and spread to violence and conflict in so many countries. Faced with a question that said who is a bigger threat to world peace, Israel, India, the US, France, Britain, or Canada, I too would have to answer Israel because of the way the question was phrased and the selective options presented to me. But people would use the outcome of the poll and my vote to try to make a point/argument that I do not believe in or agree with (just as you seem to be doing in your initial post).
According to the same survey, Europeans believe the United States contributes the most to world instability along with Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and North Korea
Along with the demographically-doomed Zionist entity, the United States is in great company. :)
Of course not. But Israel and it’s supporters see any criticism of Israel as “anti-semitism” - see here…
**Israel’s diaspora affairs minister, the former Soviet dissident Natan Sharansky, said… "The fact that the majority of Europeans sees Israel as the main danger … is additional proof that behind the ‘political’ criticism of Israel stands pure anti-semitism. **](EU poll sees Israel as peace threat | World news | The Guardian)
According to an European public poll, the principal obstacle for peace is the state of Israel.
But, in Italy, it is not possible to criticize Israel. In fact, in Italy, the Italian government and TV stations have been saying that the poll is not correct.
But the problem is Israel. This is the important point: Israel is the problem for peace.
Thank you for the attention.
