Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

Thats how i wear my hijaab

sometimes i dont even use any pins…but it all depends on the fabric

do share ur styles too

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

Love experimenting with it, although every time I end up doing the same style :cb:

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

Isn't this an oxymoron! I thought Hijab was about modesty, that means all sorts of modesty, no bells, not dark colors not even stuff that shows excessive wealth. Call it a fashion show or some sort of trend but please gimme a break! Don't call it Islamic Fashion!

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

tat web site on hijab fashion is amazing
so many cute things to wear while being covered
good ideas for changing wardrobe to a more islamic one

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

I think any girl who wears hijab has to make some sacrifices, even small ones… so kudos to them, however they wear it. :k:

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

Maham, how do you make the embelishments on designs? Is there any patterns? Boy Ive been looking so hard to find like middle easter, pakistani/indian embroidery designs that I can use to put on my hijaabs and salwar kameez. Iron on embroidery is the easiest but even just a book too would help.

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

I like the first pic its very pretty.

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

I usualy wear this kind of stuff but just in my home or around sisters. (without the hijaab). Its fun dressing up.

Hey ofcourse just covering your hair is not the proper purdah but thats why i mentioned that with wearing this head cover you gotta make sure stil that your body is properly covered.

And i agree with you, people don't realise that just cuz someone does purdah doesnt mean they arent concerned about looking good. And MasAllah i have seen some women who manage to do both very well. Good luck :).

i wl answer this in your new thread :).

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

Watch the show Little mosque at the praire. I like the way Rayaan dresses up ...very modest..it ll give you some good ieas

Fashion doesnt mean unmodest or flashy or attenion grabbing. You can still be dressed modest and decent, and at the same time look stylish and good

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

I don't wear hijab or purdah, however, I just wanted to applaud you women that do. I don't always find it easy to look chic and trendy on a daily basis despite not having any wardrobe restrictions.

A lot of the fashions noted on this page are both beautiful and modest. Please do not take to heart the comments about hijab being at odds with beauty or fashion. I've seen many beautiful women wearing hijab and when I encounter these women I know that I (along with others, I'm sure) marvel at how lovely modesty can look.

I also support the idea that there should more designers focused on making beautiful, comfortable Islamic garments.

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

^ very well said :-)

Yupp =)

I think it's important to be able to wear a hijab/jilbab and still look presentable and clean and up-to-date! Especially now a days, presenting yourself as a decent Muslim is necessary!

Beautiful !!! :)

There is a Turkish brand called "SETRMS" which proposes nice clothes for "muhtajeebat" (sorry I cannot post an URL because I am new :( )

Re: Islamic Fashion Festival!!!

I wonder if any pakistani designers participate in such events.

I want to write my conception of hijab. I think that hijab (in fact we should call it "khimar" because it is the word used in the Quran) :

1- Protect me from the society's view and men's view, I mean for example if a man see me in the street, the veil shows him that I have principles and limits I cannot transcend. It is as if the veil told him "stop, pay attention to what you'll do or what you'll say " ..

2- It distinguishes me from non-muslim women, in fact the veil is a "symbol", an "identity sign". Veil promotes, to a certain extent, an ideology, a way of life.

3- With veil I must be able to climb the social ladder and succeed in the society not thanks to my body but thanks to my brain only.

4- I don't think that veil must hide me but it just hides my "nudities" (hair, skin etc ..) You know in Europe for example, people always keep following me and it is the same for my sisters who wear the veil ! The khimar (or hijab if you want) doesn't go unnoticed even if it is a black and simple khimar.

We can be modest and chic at the same time. A woman can be veiled modestly but vulgar or pretentious with her attitude. A woman can be modest and humble wearing beautiful clothes. The most important is how you behave. And don't forget this aya :

"7.32 . Say : Who hath forbidden the adornment of Allah which He hath brought forth for His bondmen , and the good things of His providing? Say : Such , on the Day of Resurrection , will be only for those who believed during the life of the world . Thus do We detail Our revelations for people who have knowledge .

salaam !
