Islam was spread by the Sword

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

I am sorry but what Jihad took place in the subcontinent during the past 1000 years? The attacks of Mahmood Ghaznavi and others were similar to others (Scythians, Huns, Greeks etc. who were non Muslims) before him. The target was the throne of Delhi and riches. Most of the conversions have taken place through Dawah and good character of those calling people to Islam. Its misleading to propagate the theory that Islam spread through sword, that's what the Non Muslims also believe in.

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

Some Hindus believe it is impossible for Islam to be spread by the sword. Satyaki, Bhurisravas and Dhrishtadyumna were Head and Shoulders above the rest in this field of warfare. The bench was deep, with the likes of Abhimanyu and Nakula.

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

If terror could make a person change beliefs than after Tora-Bora, all Taliban and Al-Q terrorists should have accepted Christianity ... and certainly after Heroshema and Nagasaki, all Japanese should have accepted Christianity.

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

Did i quoted any names?do not cherry pick instances. i am talking about general barakat related to jihad as evident in results of ghazwat and siraya.if you want to discuss any particular event in history then please open another thread.

Jihad is not the only method of dawah but it is one of the methods of dawah.

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

These prehistoric warriors !!!

I am not sure if they could have a chance against the likes of the invading muslim armies..

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

I am no islamic history expert but from I have heard, there were incentives to convert to Islam. 1)prisoners of war were freed if they were to convert. 2)jizya tax was for nonmuslims. 3)higher ranking jobs 4) many slaves were freed if they converted(this probably made a very small portion though)
maybe i am wrong in these, if so, please correct me.

Re: Islam was spread by the Sword

But then again the conversions took place where ever Sufis went, otherwise Muslims ruled most of Central India (where majority remained non Muslims).
