Like i said, its debatable. I might be wrong, but a tomb, something which is forbidden in Islam, wouldnt be translated as Islamic heritage. Its a wonderful piece of architecture, but Islamic, perhaps not.
People around the world know it as Mughal architecture, not Islamic.

like pristine said, this thread is not for discussion…
but i have to say this…to say that the Taj Mahal is not an example of Islamic architecture would be totally incorrect. The Mughals, being Muslims, were obviously influenced by Islam when they built all those buildings. The Taj Mahal is full of inscriptions from the Holy Quran, like most of the Islamic buildings. Infact, i was watching this very detailed and informative documentary on the Taj Mahal and according to historians, Shah Jehan’s major inspiration for this building was from Al-Qur’an itself…specifically,the verses that describe Allah (SWT)'s throne in heaven (they’re inscribed on the entrance of the Taj Mahal)
It was so interesting, they were actually showing how the actual plan of the Taj Mahal had been layed out to precisely resemble the description given in the Qur’an.

The taj mahal was built by Shah Jahan for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, as an expression of his love for HER, not for Allah. Tombs in India and Pakistan routinely carry Quranic inscriptions, but that doesnt make them a part of Islam. Tombs are forbidden in Islam, theres no secret about that. And the taj mahal was, in Shah Jahans own words, his attempt to immortalize Mumtaz Mahal. Just because it was built by a muslim doesnt automatically make it Islamic.

I NEVER said it was built for Allah (SWT)
i was just talking about the inspiration behind the "design" of the building.
