Demise is probably the most inappropriate word, which ideology is being targeted by the worlds superpowers which ideology is being hounded and anyone associated with it lablled with insulting slogans the western governments are scared as hell and they should be when the muslims unite as one state the wester governments interests will capitulate very quickly thereafter, remember also the people at time of muhammad(saw) where worshipping idols they was'nt even muslims and doing all kinds of nasty things, today the 2 billion muslims + may not all be praying nimaz or whatever but we have an advantage because we don't have to make them muslims because they already are so we have headstart :)
There is some truth in what you say but the kind of reform that you are talking about will be opposed in the first place by “secular” muslims.
Infact historically the secular leaders in muslim world have been the biggest persecutors of Islam.
that is true but the secualr muslims have now been marginalised thanks to this so called war on terror they are neither with the muslims and they have no value to the western governments either now because they have been so exposed and marginalised.

The secular muslims are immensely important to foreign govts since they can give a state-sponsered distorted view of Islam which is more "acceptable" to the non-muslims.And actually it appeals more to the young muslims too as they get more acceptance in other cultures.On the other hand their are the terrorists(modern day kharijites) who just strenghten the hands of these secularists by their violent actions they provide excuses to curb islamic influences in our societies.
It is laughable to give a calculation like 16000 Muslims are living Islam every day or to declare that Islam is dying fast.
The question is what is the % of Muslims who are following the true nature of Islam and who they are?
