Extremely sad news. How come Assad's army isn't able to control the ISIS? They were pretty good at driving back the moderate Sunni rebels so how come in the case of ISIS they're being laid back?
I read that the Assad regime decided to target the moderate groups specifically and let extremists such as ISIS have a free hand, in order to emphasize the point that Assad is the least of all evils. Let the fear of ISIS distract everyone from the issue at hand, and force the west to realize that its worse without the Assad regime. Very clever.

The problem with this theory is that purely based on numbers alone ISIS cannot be a bigger threat at all ... The point is why are the media not focusing on Assad anymore when they know who the real threat is? ISIS are being given air time - there is no censoring of their activities ... And many killing videos made by Assad's fighters are being put up on the net and being passed off as ISIS videos ...

Well, Assad hasn't been nearly as dramatic. I mean ISIS took over vast swathes of Iraq literally over night, the much vaunted Iraq Army practically disappeared leaving Millions of dollars worth of American made military hardware behind, their capture of dams, oil refineries etc means they are insanely well funded... Then their videos, their murder and enslavement of Yazidis. Before they invaded Iraq, I hadn't even heard of them. The videos they post , I have seen very little beyond snippets, but they are disturbing. Men standing in trucks off to slaughter like cattle, men being walked in a line off to be beheaded. i mean these guys are a whole new level of insane.
The whole Syrian situation was just another conflict until these nuts came to the surface. Really, you couldn't have written a better script then this.
I suppose there is no way to determine who's videos are being put up. But i suppose its safe to assume that if in the video they claim to be ISIS, then we should assume they are. How would you prove they aren't ISIS ?
