Is this time to go home?

Re: Is this time to go home?

First things first, I did not read every reply in this thread so I apologize in advance for redundancy.

I saw the issue of assimilation raised in this thread and I find it utterly ridiculous that anyone expects someone to "assimilate" into the society in order to lead a succesful life. I know USA is a melting pot and what not but Canada isn't (I assume the thread starter resides in Canada). The country prides itself of being a mixture of unique cultures, where people can be succesful through integration, not assimilation, living together in peace. Why should he be the one to assimilate where as others can get by on their own Italian/Polish/Mandarin/African heritage just fine? Even in the USA, people shouldn't try to assimilate. They should try to live peacefully with the society and keep their values. Honestly, how do people like funguy and ohioguy expect immigrants to drop their religious and cultural values just like that? When you consider the fact that immigration to North America from South-Asia started relatively recently, you can say that they have done quite well for themselves. When Italians crossed the pond to settle in NA, they were facing similar problems of integrating into the society. Should they have been the ones to blame becaue they were different from the others living in America?

With that said, I also agree with the fact that a lot of desis are victims of an inferiority complex. They think of themselves being treated as second-grade citizens where as in reality, they aren't on most occasions. People should view themselves as an important part of the society. The way I see it, there are two barriers in the way of intergration. One is the pre-conceived notion held by the members of society regarding recent immigrants. Other is the one held by immigrants themselves, thinking of themselves as being extremely different from everyone else. Basically both barriers are a result of ignorance and a lack of interaction between the two groups and both serve as sort of self-fulfilling prophcies. Society views you as someone with no interest in interacting with them where as immigrants view society as having no intrest of accepting them. You can't change other people's views but you can help integrate yourself into the society by getting rid of your own mental barrier. This way, people will learn who you truly are and as a result, drop their barrier as well (apologies for the over use of the word 'barriers'...its 1:30 in the morning)

Re: Is this time to go home?

gang listen up...
There is no place like USA and
we came here to have freedom of the highest degree
and we all got that. So enjoy it and respect it and pass it on.
Dont let hate mongers get to you. Pk is great but its a third world
US of A gave most of us what pk was never able 2 give all of us - dat is

Opportunity........ :) to be what u wana be do what u wana do - end of story.

So be greatful to this land and create an example by being a model Citizen ok..
And dont be afraid to tell da world Gora . Kala Neela whoever dat you are
A Paki......
Coz ..
America had nothing was nothing until it got populated with Gora kala ..Neela..

One more thing regarding Assimilation... One does not need to Assilimate........
Why ..
Coz this country allows you to maintain your identity as you choose.. Meaning.
that...
You can be a chota Mota patla lamba you name it. as long as U live by its laws
you are fine. Assimilation factor will eventually creep into your blood over time.
have you heard of the saying ..

Dood ka Dood
Pani ka paani.....

No matter over time we all get assilimited its a given if not then
our children will be by virtue of evolution.. Cant avoid it. Assilimation should
not be and cannot be forced, it will happen automatically over time. trust me..

Re: Is this time to go home?

^^ your post and mahawra both are not relevant to the question that I asked. Read my posts again and come back. We know what western countries have given us and all blah blah blah, nobody is disagreeing here. The thing is what will you do when the things are going against you, despite of how well integrated you are in teh society. When everday you are harrased or looked upon has suspecious or worse. Will you be able to handle that humilation that you are not used to at all?

Re: Is this time to go home?

hey jose...why do you want to go back?

Re: Is this time to go home?

Well, well beggars have no choice do they.

We are stuck, if we go home we will be unable to compete in the corruption that is a way of life in Pakistan.

If we stay we will be constantly under suspicion. Every gora considers us as a potential terrorrist.

Re: Is this time to go home?

Re: Is this time to go home?

Would any other country seriously be willing to take you?

On the issue, if I did leave the UK, and it is possible, it would be for one of the Scandanavian nations or Latin America (beaches, women). I couldnt live in a Muslim nation, socially far too conservative.

Re: Is this time to go home?

Don't put words in his mouth. He never said he cheers when muslims die nor did he say he supports America's war in Iraq. An American soldier who dies in the war dies because he followed the orders. Anyone who sacrifices his life for his country deserves our respect. It's good to see that it only takes a phantom statement from Mr.Fraudia to spark your hatred against EVERY "American Paki".

Re: Is this time to go home?

I LOVE AMERICAN PAKIS, I LOVE AMERICAN PAKIS, I LOVE AMERICAN PAKIS, I LOVE UK PAKIS, I LOVE HOLLAND PAKIS, I LOVE GREMAN PAKIS...........I LOVE ALL THE PEOPLE........I LOVE WHOLE WORLD.....NO HATE ........PEACE, PEACE, PEACE, PLEASE
