and human sexuality?
I have a hard time believing that philosophical questions related to God can be discussed in Pakistani classrooms and there there is enough freedom to research this topic. How many would feel safe (from ridicule and criticism) in class discussing things like Aethism or Agnosticism or if there is one God or does it even matter? One might even be scared of accusations of blasphemy and defamation of religion. I have taken the intro to Philosophy class here in the US and people discuss these topics in class, and even talk about their beliefs (usually the aethists and agnostic types were most vocal). Who in Pakistan will fee safe to admit that they don't believe in God?
Similarly, I have taken a human sexuality class. It is all about human sexuality from a gora point of view. Dating and its various phases, pre-martial sex, living together before marriage, multiple partners, homosexuality, cheating, etc etc. All these things are considered taboo topics to discuss. Imagine trying to even gather any statistics about these topics by doing surveys. Those surveys will probably have a 1% response rate. Although, the course textbook talked about how the various religious groups try to suppress such research.
I think we mostly are very ignorant from many systems in Pakistan, the world bank recent report says that 1.3% students in Pakistan are from Madrassas.
If we will see the course contents of these Madrassas , they do discus this type of Topics you have pointed to , Like Belief in God, in THE COURSE OF MANTAQ.
Ya,
Sex and Sexuallity are always being seen with suspectious eyes.
It is actually due to the EXPLOITATION of WOMEN in the name of FREEDOM in WESTERN SOCIETIES.
Fashion Shows ,
Miss Worl and Miss Universe Contests ,
Using Women for commercial Advertisements,
Believe me , seeing Ladies with the Advertisment of BLADES/Razer or shaving cream apears very odd to me.
Women are free to use any type of VOLGURE dress , but , to use VEIL/HIJAB is prohibated.
But principaly these are those integral things which drives and sets the society TRENDS and should be brought in discussion and made part of our syllabus.
