Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

I'm not too crazy about the baai. I like more simple and delicate things.....nothing heavy and big that would cover so much of your wrist.

I DO, however, like the panjaangla.........but I don't like it connected to five rings. Instead I like it where there's a fairly simple bangle...connected to one chain...connected to one ring. That, I think, looks cute.

it is called bayi in urdu..... i have one but not that much big ...........

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

o too much

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

Redvelvet, I totally get what you mean! that's why I'm deliberating whether I should get one.. I think they're so pretty but If I got one, it would be about half the size of the one shown and probably the only thing on that wrist.. I also got two of the panjas with a single chained ring for each hand, I love them! But I don't know if I should wear both or just one on one hand? ahh decisions decisions! lol

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

For your wedding, wear the paanja on both hands.

But after your wedding, when you go to very formal occasions....just wear one.

One of my cousins....when she was younger...her mom had bought her a gold ring from Pakistan. I think either it was loose or she'd keep losing it. So, her mom came up with this idea of getting the jeweler to attach a very simple gold chain from that ring...to a simple bangle. It was really cute. Nothing over the top at all. I remember when my cousin was in high school....she'd wear that single paanja every single day.......it never came off her hand....she wore it with her jeans, non-desi clothes. It kind of made her unique and it worked because it was a pretty simple design....no gemstones or anything like that.

Bangles are considered to be jewelry that is "sexy" because it has movement....and a pleasant sound to it. I personally would opt for something that has movement on your wrist as opposed to something heavy that just sits there.

Here it is! I bought it in Pakistan in January, and it fit perfectly, then when I came back to Canada, I lost weight before the wedding because of all the stress, so it was loose on me, thats why its not sitting properly on my wrist…but you can still see it!

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

I dont like it either.. it just makes no sense to me and looks like a tasbeeh wrapped around the wrist.
I like the panja thing too. I bought one for my wedding. I am debating whether to get a similar one for the other wrist or not. I really want my right hand to be free of everything… idk helppp

should I wear my panja thingy on the right hand or left? I reall;yu dont want to wear two.. but should i? arghhh

oooo tht 1 is pretty
wht is around ur neck?

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

o its Beautiful!

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

mizsani....I think the panja......considering that yours is a more simple one with only one ring and chain....would look gorgeous on both hands for your wedding....it would look more balanced. However....if you only want to wear it on one hand....then there's nothing wrong with that either. If you are right handed.....I would wear the panja on the left hand. Similarly if you're left-handed...I'd wear it on the right. The reason being (in my opinion) that the hand you use least...tends to look nicer, smoother, less coarse. But that's just my opinion. I wear my rings/bracelets on my left hand because I think that hand/fingers look nicer.

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

Thats one hell of a necklace you have lady:eek:

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

this is how it looks…
I think two of those would look too much.
I am considering not wearing tht one either because it is so big and would cover my mehndi.
Mayb I will wear it just to masjid for nikkah (my nikkah is 1 week before the shaadi so I wont have any mehndi on. Also, then in the pics mayb my hand will look all pretty whiile signing the papers. idk

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

LOL…that is called a “Katmala”. It was actually my moms from her wedding. I wore that with my actual bridal set. Its really traditional for pathan brides (Im pathan), so I really wanted to wear it.

Re: Is there a name for this type of bangle/cuff?

I like the idea highlighted in your post. Go with that plan.
