no engagement is only a verbal agreement of marriage.
ppl do it bcz they do not follow/learn what islam actually teaches but they follow what hindus and christians do.
as engagement is not nikah...(where a bride wud stay at parents home and not be in physical relation with husband) this nikah and rukhsati late does not have any thing to do in islam.(i think) as it cud lead to trouble(worldly)
no engagement breaking is not a divorce. may be breaking a promise!!!!!!
