Does anyone know why Singapore was chosen as the place for the operation and not somewhere in Western Europe or US?
From which country did the lead doctors belong to?

well I heard that back in 96 Germany and other nations said no b/c it was too risky.
At the end it was there fate to die this way at that place.
Allah ya rahim them
Inna lillahi wa inna elahi rajioon :(
Singapore had experience in this kind of operation… coz as per CNN says and I remember as well, two Napalese twins were operated there as well.
actually... this was a very peculiar case,,,
one of two million childs are born like that. i.e. with brains joined...
the rest of the Joined cases are other body parts...
but since brain being the most complex and sensitive organ.. thats why it was very much difficult..
May there souls rest in peace.. Ameen...
very sad :--(
Inna lillahi wa inna elahi rajioon.
The most miraculous thing was...the joint was in such a way so they can at least walk around...I mean they can stand and walk at almost ‘0’ degree-angle, but think for worst if they were joint on a different angle, they might not be able to walk...they spent whole life, shared every thing jointly, they were used to Pray Namaz together as well...just visualize how much trouble they must had...
yeh sab to Alllah ki taraf say hota hay, we should NOT have mourning or so, cuz it all came form Allah...it could be more worst as it was..
** Failure of operation ** shows how much a human is still reliant and vulnerable…today Human claming to The Nature to clone a human, but they should not forget at one stage they will have to see a dead end. We should accept the results, cuz we never know what going to come in their future life worst …even if the Doctors were succeeded; they will have to cover the open head skull …Doctors can not produce bone skull to cover the brain, what they were going to use were tissues and skin…
If the girls had separate blue blood vein, then there were more chances to survive, cuz the Doctors took more time in that vein jointing…khair, now it’s a history…
I think it would have been even worst for the sisters if one died and one lived. Just imagin how the other one would have felt.
There goes Dr. Ben Carson's reputation.
p.s. The brain was not joined at birth, because there was only 1 skull, the two brains got very close to each other-almost intact.
Does any one know how there emotions, feeling and pain were co-related ? and what if one had died her normal? well ... they were just two live bodies 2 days back , smiling and cheering, with a hope for new life, but ...
^ hey thats a new one. what if one died of natural causes, and the other was alive - but they were still joined! wouldnt one be lurking around a dead corpse?
if one dies the other will die shortly after...cuz the bloodstream cannot be kept intact with one heart i suppose
The whole biological system was separete and I think they were using separate hearts to pump the blood, but only vein they were sharing was brain vein, since they had separate heart and brains, so I guess thier feeling and thier emotions must be different, but ...
after one death, I am not sure the other one will gonna survive, cus she has to spearate after cutting her!
I think that was nescio was getting at was that because their blood streams were connected by the vein in the brain, if one died then the other's heart would have had to pump the blood of two people around - and that it would be incapable of doing this. So if one had died before the operation the other would too.

Extremely sad. i almost expected them to survive the operation, i thought they just might somehow.
One of the twins, Ladan, had stated prior to the operation... "If God wants us to live the rest of our lives as two separate independent individuals, we will."
They were both aware of the risks they were taking. Maybe, Insha'Allah one day, we can draw medical lessons from this so that if another set of adult conjoined twins should like to be separated (in the far-off future), the operation would be less riskier and odds of survival slightly improved based upon what doctors have learned this time around.

Oh God, Rumii, you had chosen words ' Separate at last' ... yep thats true... they are now separated...I can see two SEPARATE coffins...
Their deaths have left such a big impact on my heart, even though i didn’t know them, i felt like crying when I heard about their deaths and how their surgery become harder than expected. I just wish their family take it easily and they should never forget the girls’ “sacrifice”. I called their deaths a sacrifice because their surgery have given doctors another opportunity to improve on their techniques and skills.
