Have a look at the Western newspapers writing about Sarkozy’s wife’s new affairs. ![]()
Anyway, Iran has suspended the punishment of stoning to death for Skineh but she will be charged for involvement in murder of her husband if proven guilty.
Re: Irani media calls French First Lady a prostitute and calls for her death!
And how does that negate what I said?
And who has claimed they don't have the right to say what they said? What was the purpose of your comments? Supporting freedom of speech doesn't mean one has to agree with what is being said. They are free to print insults towards world leader's wives. I welcome Iran to do that, I hope they do it more of it, show the true colors of Iranian leadership in all it's brilliancy.
Re: Irani media calls French First Lady a prostitute and calls for her death!
UTD I stated it was freedom of speech and you responded with:

Yes, the Iranian press are free to say what they want as long as it's approved by the Iranian government. You wish to claim otherwise CM?

That i no way negates what I stated. Rather you implied that the news paper was a mouth piece for the Irani Government but it doesn't change the fact that it is freedom of speech.
Re: Irani media calls French First Lady a prostitute and calls for her death!
You stated, "Freedom of Speech. That is the beauty of democracy." What does democracy have to do with a Irani mouthpiece hurling insults (and calls for her death) at the wife of French President?

Well, the beauty is that the media people didn't get killed for calling carla whore. Isn't it obvious?

Democracy is the right for the people to vote for their leadership. And the Irani government is by all standards democratic. If you don't think so then Bush Jr winning the elections in the US would not be democratic. And the yes of the issue of the hanging chad qualifies as fraud. There was litigation to that affect in the US.

The Supreme Leader of Iran is not elected by the people, nor is the Guardian Council who approves who can and cannot run for President. Close your eyes and stick your head in the sand, you know Iran is not a government controlled by the people but by unelected leaders.
Re: Irani media calls French First Lady a prostitute and calls for her death!
Nor is the British Queen. Who is the official Head of State for Canada and Australia. You saying those two countries are not democracies? The beauty of democracy is the fact that one size does not fit all. The average American knows that considering the failures in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Pathetic you would even compare the two, a straw man argument if there ever was one.
Re: Irani media calls French First Lady a prostitute and calls for her death!
No its a simple comparison. You stated that in the case of Iran the heads of State are not elected. That is normal in most democracies. Including many European countries that maintain their Monarchs as heads of state and not government. Just because the head of state is not elected does not mean the country is not a democracy.
Or take Switzerland which as a 7 member council that rotates Presidency and leadership. They are all elected at once if recall and rotate around every year.
