Re: Iran
In what parallel universe is Iran developed??? Saudi and Iran are both evil countries that have sent muslims backwards 100s of years, while the rest of the world progressed. But, they are much better than Saudies but then again so are monkeys living in amazon jungles.
Iran mind you gave up Qadir Khan - some friend of Pak they were.
The only muslim countries worth Pak time are Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia.
Why doesn't Pakistan have a more intimate relationship with Iran?
You don't see it being an in-thing for Pakistanis to travel there, but it is BEAUTIFUL. I'm watching Anthony Bourdain's series on CNN and he is showing Iran tonight. I had NO IDEA how beautiful and fascinating it is. It's like how when muslims talk about the cool experience of going to Turkey or Morocco - open Islamic culture that's modernized. And they're right next to Pakistan. All those fascinating foods, and aspects of their culture. Really eye opening.
I don't know why Pakistan isn't on excellent terms with Iran. They're like a softer prettier version of us.
And yet we kiss Saudi ****?
With all the sanctions placed on Iran, they did a really fabulous job to survive it. They're more developed than Pakistan is. After all the aid Pakistan gets, look where Pakistan is, and look where Iran is. Pakistan should have been doing business with Iran all this time. They really built their country.
Re: Iran
By that video I just saw by Anthony Bourdain I disagree. There are definitely parts of the country that are pretty developed. Makes Karachi look backwards. I don't get how Pakistan doesn't have a proper highway system and Iran does.
Ours looks like it was made by a third grader.
Re: Iran
Oil Economy , Population Difference and Afghan War that ruined Pakistan socio-economic web
BTW , Iran was a majority Sunni country before Safavids
Re: Iran
When was the last time you were in Pakistan? I saw the program as well yes Iran is developed but actually Pakistan has come a long way. I dont think you have been there lately. The heartland Punjab has been transformed. From Pindi through Rahim yar khan, highway system is amazing. Mid last year in quest to connect to roots, I did road trip from Abbottabad to Rahim yar Kha and there are huge advancements.
For Iran, Pakistan still has good relations and there are lot of flights from Quetta to Mashad. But its not as simple. When Balochistan was flaming, Iran was arming Hazara shias etc. vs Saudi armament of Wahabi/Sunni stuff so they played their role in destablization. Now that Balochistan issues are mostly fixed and political solutions are there, trade is starting again. Iran's side of Belochistan had severe human rights violations that trickled down in Pakistan side. Further, now that sanctions are over, Iranian Gas will be coming to Pakistan.
In short, these are complex economies and political system, not really on / off switches. Pakistani political and military mistakes had a role to play with all issues.

Your sharif mafia doesn't think developing Karachi is worth their time or any province aside from punjab.

This is why American propaganda should never be taken seriously. Iran had always been a pretty developed country. It is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, never been colonised by Western imperial power, blessed with natural beauty, and some of the most glorious architectural aesthetics the world had ever seen.
After the imposition of crippling economic sanctions, Iran had no option but to massively cut down on corruption and extravagance to survive, and invest in education. Today, over 90% of their population is literate with no gender discrepancy (97% of their young population is literate). Under the Shah of Iran, the figure was around 60%.
Whereas Pakistan and the rest of South Asia is a classic example of post colonial third world dumps. Things are going right here and there, but these countries are too corrupt to progress and survive with dignity.
Re: Iran
Sharif mafia is not ELECTED from Karachi. The ones who are elected need to do but So called Sharif mafia is doing quite a bit in every province. There is a reason that CM in Balochistan is from same Sharif Mafia. The Kharipur / Sanghar area border punjab is seeing lot of spill over. Other who are elected need to do their job.
